Thoughts on how to make this map a little more balanced? I think setting spawn points to the riverbed and dam would be on way to help balance it better. However, the riverbed spawn needs to be moved a bit forward to equalize the distance to center beacon for both teams.
Two issues that need to be solved in order to balance the map.
1. Size of the map is an issue. The running from the farm to the dam beacon is ridiculous, and a huge turnoff for most players.
2. The asymmetrical map shape clearly gives specific spawns an advantage in gaining and holding beacons.
What can constructively be done to alleviate these map imbalances? In a meta that has swung heavily to trident midrange, is there anything that can be done to better balance the map?

I hates my griffin gets killed by gekkos by the time it reaches the 2nd beacon The size of the map could be shortened a little, as well I also prefer not to be at the dam

Springfield is a challenging map for sure. However if every map was perfect for everyone, this would be a pretty boring game. Diversity is what allows different players to thrive under different circumstances.
Springfield can be tough, but having maps like that in the game prevents this game from becoming nothing but a knock-down drag-out slugfest on every map, every game.

Shrink the entire map 2x.

Shrink the entire map 2x. 0.5x?

0.5 would probably remove like 200 meters (hyperbole)

Shrink the entire map 2x. 0.5x? My original comment was supposed to mean shrinking the map by a factor of two.

Do not fix what isn't broken? Maybe the dam, i noticed going to the farm beacon is faster than C beacon(starting from a and b beacons)

Maybe the dam, i noticed going to the farm beacon is faster than C beacon(starting from a and b beacons) It's so broken m9: - dam spawn has easy control over all the choke points in BC vs AE spawn, and they already start with the higher ground - E has quick access to three beacons in B vs E spawn - B has no strategic advantage in A vs B spawn

I like a challenge. And what Ron Gaul said.

It's not that it's challenging, it's that it's just dread awful boring. Your teammates are even less useful than normal, games are extremely predictable depending on what side you're on, and you have to walk for minutes on end to get to the next beacon unless you're playing a light bot.

I beg to differ! My Carny and Galahad do just fine capping the first 2 or 3 beacons... then the dying starts.

Yeah it's quite a good brawler considering the low hit points and firepower, I get what people mean by a great all-rounder it can beat a plasma rhino or Lancelot 1v1, and can come out of a fight with a DB bot without even a dent. If that doesn't make it top tier material I don't know what does

While i never used to skip maps, since moving to top tier (where I run all heavies) Springfield has become and auto skip for me. The imbalance in spawn, and overall size of the map just turn me off.
Honestly, I would much rather spend 10 minutes of game play on DC, Canyon, Shenzen where I'm having fun. Running from farm to dam beacons in a Lance is simply no fun and extremely frustrating.

Typical Galahad on Springfield: Running cok-eyed so my shield faces the 'Tashas and Furies in whatever campground they got, from the ?bum-bum? end of the farm/city/docks center beacon to the 1st of the paired beacons. Takes, what, 30 seconds to a minute or 2 depending on which crappy spawn-zone you got? In all seriousness, though, I've got to unlearn some bad habits from gold farming on my android account, balls-out doesn't always get the wins. Springfield is a good lesson on that. CΛΜΡΞΓ™ You seem to have glossed over the part where I mention dying... Some days I really hate Springfield

Best way to unlearn aggressive farming tactics imo would be to run the rhino. Try being aggressive in that.
Alternatively, get a midrange bot and try to stay alive in it as long as possible.

Leo6 Pin8/Zeus8 & Rhino6 Plasma8 Usually get 1.5 kills on my better runs. "I may be slow, but I get there..."

Still learning to apply the geometry of those curves for the long sweeping turns in shielded mode. I used to speedrun Quake maps, I'll finger it out. The shield is also really only good if you happen to run over a plasma weilding bot. Between rocket pods and aphids the shield only helps so much. Also need to learn to drop trou and unload before getting melted
