My insomnia is coming back. I've been online (particularly this forum) all day. My gf went to a casino with her friends this weekend, so I can't sleep.

Do you use a blue light filter on your computer or mobile devices? You would be suprised how much white light, specifically the blue wavelength can mess up your cycle. Maybe try turning lights of sooner or don't watch TV as late. I use blue filters cause I don't go to sleep until 2am usually.

How do I turn the light in my head off? It's my mind keeping me awake.
Had to put my laptop and phone in my truck last night to force myself to stop posting here. I binge-watched movies... that's what I've been doing since I was a little girl when I had insomnia. I used to watch horror movies at night when I five.
Some things never change.

Switchin the ol' brain off is the trick, aint it? I do guided meditation and breathing exercises typically. Sometimes just background noise (I do music, some folks got those white-noise machines) helps. Something rhythmic to concentrate on that's not your thoughts. Cause those'll keep you up aaaall night.

Get off the methamphetamine. Soon as I stopped using it, my sleep patterns returned to normal.

As I said in the Straightedge thread, I don't do drugs. I don't even use painkillers when my wisdom teeth are bringing me to tears. I just suffer until the pain goes away, which can be hours or days.

Want to sleep like a baby? Go outside and move your butt. Move your butt until you can't anymore!

Tried melatonin? Cheap, effective, body naturally produces it, but sometimes not enough of it on its own to trigger sleep cycles properly.
As for the wisdom teeth, look for a dental school/college nearby. Not the best work, but its usually free or massively reduced cost. Teeth problems are miserable. I've dealt with TMJ for most of !y adult life, and it never stops sucking.

I usually read a book if I can't sleep. But sometimes it's a good book and it keeps me awake ..

I've had chronic insomnia for 25 years now. I've ended up taking halcion (.25 mg)twice a week to knock my sleep rhythm back into sync. Ambien and Lunesta don't really work for me. Restoril works okay, but I don't like to take Rx meds daily for sleep and the results are a little spotty. It takes 30mg of ambien to put me down but I have a couple hours of serious double vision and being seriously messed up (I don't like it). Last night I slept great because I installed a new filter on the pool. Sand filters way a ton and in the afternoon Florida heat it kicked my butt. I take benadryl every night which has helped. Insomnia sucks.

Usually takes two hours for me to fall asleep at the very least. This is because of my messed up sleep cycle from High School though.

It's actually a re-hued album cover. The original looks like this:

I've read that writing your thoughts down freeform can help reduce the busy voices in your head that don't want to settle down.

If I'm having trouble falling asleep, I usually pray a Rosary.
