My biggest and probably most annoyed aspect about this game that makes me almost kick over my still wet canvas of happy trees is the targeting. I've lost count on how many times DAILY I'll be pounding a guy (giggity) in a match with my magnum/taran/tulum Griffin ripping his bot to shreds (giggity) and then BAM! Let us target the guy next to him slightly closer and to the left. Or look, a guy above your head on a ramp. Target change. It would be nice if I could use my right thumb to not only move my mech's torso left and right, but up and down as well fully letting me control where my crosshair's are aiming and shooting.
And yes, I have auto target off in the settings. Those targeting boxes start to fail depending on the angle you approach a cluster or line of enemy mechs.

Target lock is great, use it when you are preparing to unleash doom on unsuspecting enemies.

Either or... I find with it on or off the issue is still there. If there are two bots in front of you and one above you and you want to focus on the one in front closest to you, the game will be like, "Nah bruh. Look up."
The targeting may be awesome. Especially if you are using weapons that require a lock on. But one too many times while launching a barrage from say crv's, magnum's, tulumbas, taran's, or even my kang-daes the camera will jerk to another enemy above me, below me, or to the sides completely botching my shot and 9/10 times getting me killed.

You have to activate target lock by pressing the button under the big red button.

Pro tip: when engaging/preparing to engage with a guaranteed target, lock on. Any other time do not use target lock or it will stuff you up.

You have to activate target lock by pressing the button under the big red button. Heeeeey! That explains a lot! I looked all over the in game features for a tutorial or something that explained that bottom button but nary an answer was found. So I've been ignoring that button. So basically there was a problem between my chair and keyboard.

You'll notice an increase in your enjoyment of the game since you've discovered that button. Scanning the battlefield, checking ranges of everyone, planning attacks...

I've never needed that button to check range, but now knowing I wont have to worry about that camera change... as much has increased my happiness.

And if you want to turn it off w/of touching anything just look left/right far enough to get them off screen and it reverts. I do it this way when I'm on my dbs. My fingers can be fat, and prone to unloading their fury on a nearby rock instead of a deserving enemy

VERRRYYY relatable... Although I am aware of the lock on target feature I think it would be better if the game makes it's decision on who to lock on without taking into account how far the enemy is from the crosshairs on your horizontal point of view. Because I hate it when I'm firing and I lock on to someone a lot closer to me than who I was originally targeting who is like at my 1.5 O'CLOCK.
