I tried the search function but couldn't find anything on this topic, how and why do you eject from your bot other than when you are destroyed? I've sometime entered a game and two seconds into it either my team mate or the enemy can be seen ejecting from their bot. What gives?

Menu allows you to reselect your bot or leave the game. Top right corner.

I eject from midrange bots when they are down a weapon or 2. And I eject from knife fighters after a fight if my legs are broken, not worth staying in it as you won't be able to move far or deal much damage. I also eject from my current bot to a heavy knife fighter if I see my team is about to be spawn raided.

bmc to answer your question, there is no function specifically for 'eject'. If you change bots or leave game, it just appears like you're ejecting, and the comments in upper right corner will say you were 'destroyed'.

I eject whenever I feel I won't be of any more use to my team. Doesn't matter how close I am to death or how close the enemy is, I just immediately jump into a fresh bot.

I don't use eject. My enemy deserves the kill, if he can manage it...

Eject and respawn is great to quickly get from one side of the map to another. There is a great video on youtube where Adrian Chong uses this strategy to respawn behind an enemy bot who is trying to get the beacon next to the spawn point on Dead City. The enemy pilot noticed only what was going on when his bot was about to go down, and Adrian carried his team to victory that way.
This is one other reason why it pays to go for a five bot hangar.

You're welcome.
Another reason why I eject is if a mag-gep is showing up on hostile's team. I have two of those in my bronze hangar as well but don't choose them. They are there as a counter measure. So if those plasma-crazed guys start to dominate the map, I switch to mag-gep and try to take them out.
Sadly, those clubbers often have four or five mag-geps in their hangar, but at least I can ruin their game from time to time.

For all the reasons above I will pop the top. Also, deception, specifically on Yama, dead city and shenzen. Get a light fast bot back there behind enemy lines or spawn. You typically draw 3 or more red away from battle just to hunt you down. Blue members, if they are at all aware, can use this to their advatage and gang up on front line reds and advance on middle, or even start attacking red spawn and or red home beacons. When they actually have me trapped and I can't do any more good I pop into another bot, denying them the bulk of my hp, and start cleaning up whatever mess my teammates have made, or move a hard hitting medium or heavy into prime wrecking position while reds walk back, into advanced blue lines. It's war, all tactics are on the table

I'll eject when my Boa falls off the bridge at Springfield between the Metropolis and Port Bay and then I somehow take a wrong turn somewhere and then I am wandering around behind the city wondering why there aren't any trees or wildlife to admire and then also remembering that there are supposed to be ramps and wondering where those are and so then I pull out my map, but the stupid bot doesn't come with a GPS, and so I'll scratch my head for a while trying to figure out where I am based on the few landmarks that are available and in the course of scratching my head I realize I probably need to wash my hair but figure maybe that can wait until after the match is over and I try to remember the last time I took a shower, maybe it was Thursday? Aw heck, I might as well eject since I have a 2nd Boa anyway...
By then, it usually doesn't matter for some reason.

I didn't see anyone else mention specifically that the feature is "Select Another Robot" inside that oft-mentioned Menu.

Well, the OP was about one of only two buttons in the Menu he didn't see all by itself when it was the only thing in that quadrant of the screen, so....

I dont mind being taken out, I wont eject to prevent a kill - lacking in integrity and gamesmanship. I will use a crippled bot to draw fire and bots away from my team strategy wise. Other than that, I will eject if I can no longer be strategically valuable and I am not immediately destroyed. I will not hobble along & waste time in a unproductive bot.

I get down to a few thousand hp and eject. Saves you a little silver, repair costs. Also, no point in wasting time, eject when ready.

I remember when I first started playing I thought you could swap between your bots as a tactic, only after a few games did I realise the bot I had moved from had disappeared from my list and then it dawned on me the bot self destructed when you leave it.I still think Pix should consider the option of being able to move between your hanger as the game tactics change.

When your bot gets stuck or "falls" through the floor, ejecting is sometimes the only way to get back into the action.
