When I started playing this game I decided to save WhoPpers to by a Rhino (I wached an Adrian video delivering death and destruction with a plasma one).
Then 2 things happened: 1) I got it 2) Brit Bots overcrowded battles.
I had to re-orientate my weaponry to fight against shields. I guess I was not the only one doing this, so when I played with my brand new plasma Rhino it just lasted 1 minute on the field.
This happened so often that now its in my inventory, not using it any more. In fact, when I see a red Rhino approaching I can't help but smile and whisper "come to papa (gradually)".
It's just only me? Anyone else has put his/her Rhino away?

Rhino becomes a dead bot at around Diamond 1.

I don't see them anywhere near as much as I used to, but then again I recall the days of Rhinopolis were pre-spider bots, pre-britbots, pre-wild bunch so maybe there's a lot more choice now for a hard hitting bot with lots of hit points and a shield that can sit and hold a beacon or storm one. When it was the only choice, yeah, everyone had a near full hanger of them.
I only ever got one but am still finding it useful (I was thinking of replacing it with the compulsory trident fury set up but I've decided I'm sick of this game railroading choices so I'm sticking with my brawlers)
It's still great for the dead city, power plant and especially moon map as you can rush towards beacons, drop the shield as you turn the corner, rip the rival bot going for the beacon, snag it, and charge for the next beacon with shield back up and missiles reloading.
I'm finding it's also great for cracking open plasma/thunder Lancelots. The Tarans wail pointlessly on your shield, the moment they need to reload, drop the orkan/pinata deluge into them before the thunder can do much damage. An almost certain instant kill. Assault mode is also good for getting inside an Ancilot quickly for a point blank burst.
I still find my Rhino is almost guaranteed to take down one bot before he goes, and often gets two or three (in addition to snagging beacons quickly). So still a decent member of my hanger.

Look at the Legends hangars. Rhinos still exist in top tier play. They no longer dominate but they still have a uses once you learn to drive them right.

Just my 2 cents I think the Rhino needs a slight buff. I think it's turning rate needs to be increased somewhat both when the assault mode is engaged and disengaged. Likewise the Gareth and the Galahad should have a turning rate penalty when the shield is deployed as well.

SNIP... In fact, when I see a red Rhino approaching I can't help but smile and whisper "come to papa (gradually)". ...SNIP. I cracked up when I read that... AS to the premise... I have noticed a few more on the field, lately. Like I mentioned the other day, if they are played as flankers and not as front line assault bots (contrary to their intended purpose) they do very well on the whole. Also as was mentioned above, they can be decent Beacon runners that can possibly hold it a bit longer than other bots, as well. Like any bot, though, if you can read the battle well and tell where you need to be, any bot can be a boon. Plus, the Rhino takes a while to get good at it. It has one of, if not the most, hardest learning curves in the game. Just getting used to when to use the shield and when to drop it and bail is a skill in and of itself. PS, the poster who mentioned killing Ancilelots with it is dead on. Drive up into its grill in 'Assault Mode', particularly after it has just used its Rush ability so that it can't get away, and let the Orks and Pinatas fly.

PDB Rhino in lead off will win Yam and Moon more often than not. Less useful in lead off on DC and Canyon and I save for beacon flanking later in the game. Hellfire Rhino in clean up has saved games for me on all maps.....sometimes.

Definitely not extinction, although for what I use it for the Galahad is usually superior. I still run one and I am in Diamond 2. However, I am thinking of replacing it with a second Lancelot.

Experts are using Ork/Mag Rhino very effectively. Yep, that would be the Hellfire build. Seems to be the number one preference right now. If by extinction the OP meant the northern white rhino, then sadly probably yes, as only one male remains on Earth. Otherwise, the War Robots variation won't be doomed any time soon I think, provided pilots are skilled enough and use an effective weapons loadout, like the one above.

Looks like the imminent update will serve as the wildlife protection order needed for Death Button Rhinos. Orkans doing +15% more damage and the Pinatas now joining in on the fire while reloading? Oh yeah!

If I see any Lance without Orks in my Hellfire Rhino it's me who smiles and whispers "look at that fat bag of silver". Similar feeling for Gary and Stalkers, but don't chase. Never chase when using a Rhino.

The Rhino had become fairly situational. Personally I don't worry about them too much in my Lancelots for a few reasons.
If they're a hellfire build I side step until they are forced to drop the shield and fire. With rush active I can sidestep or backpedal quite effectively. If I'm in one of my Ancilots I won't even take damage.
I'f they're in a plasma build I usually use cover to whittle them down. The lance is a great corner shooter. If they're low on health they'll usually sit with the shield up but if you headbutt them the tarans shoot around the shield.
Back on topic though, the Rhino could really use a speed buff to make it relevant again. It was indirectly nerfed when the heavies got a speed boost, and in middle levels again nerfed indirectly with the hp leveling. If it's base speed was bumped to about 32 at level 6 and it's rush bonus dropped to give it the same top speed it'd be worth the wsp again without making it overpowering.

I have encountered very few rhinos lately and it used to give my Ancilot some trouble so thanks for the advice.

The Rhino used to be king, but now it's overshadowed by many bots. It this case, the Rhino is not extinct, just not preferable for most players. I used to watch videos of the Rhino killing everything in it's path. When I got one, it was great. I could block shots, then return fire easily. Once in Shenzhen, I was grouped up with a thunder Natasha and a DB Griffin. We were really hesitant about attacking, because a Leo, Galahad, and a Raijin were waiting, taking pot shots at the corner. We needed the beacon badly, so I charged my Plasma Rhino straight in there, giving my teammates cover. We stormed them and took the beacon. That was when Ancilots weren't really a thing. Now, TT furies and Lances are gonna just beat you down to the ground. The Rhino is still relevant, but it has just lost usage.

Heck, all it would take to make the Rhino relevant again would be to let it be able to Rush while backpedaling. I'd take that one small modification - just to be able to go backwards at 50KPH on Rush. This would still mean you have to be smart on how you position the bot before Rushing backwards, but it would give the Rhino just a little more survivability. The buffed Orkan is just a sly way of Pixonic making the Mk2 and Mk3 Dash bots "must haves", as just 1 salvo of triple Orkans will cripple/kill a Griffin/Rhino/Fury/Tasha (what a coincidence!). If you've tested the Dash Mk2 and really marked the points on a map where a Dash will land you in front of an opening or you know that striking a red bot while Dashing drops you right in its face, you know that the triple Orkan Dash is pretty frightening (for all that say this bot is easy to kill, you haven't fought against really experienced pilots) and many setups will simply be obsolete once the Dash bots land. So to combat the Dash bots, a buff you the Rhino and Griffin are due --- cause they are both meat otherwise.

Thank you everybody for your thoughts. I'll keep my Rhino, certainly love its design, and try to practice more with it. Hopefully Pixonic will change something in it (I liked that backpedal rush option) and bring back Rhinos to the elite.

Agree with you, the problem I have with my rhino is manoeuvrability. The good news is that after my Rhino I play with my Natasha and she seems a Dance goddess in comparison

On moon map today i've killed 4 of it, 3 by My gary and one by My poor lvl6 griff...had to say probably they were in the hands of very bad pilots otherwise i get blasted... (never saw so many rhinos all toghether...every corner of the map i've found one...)

Rhino still plentiful in Gold 2 tiers. I usually see it used to spearhead a beacon cap or sometimes I see it trying to be sneaky and move down the sides of the battle and then try to turn in to make a pincher move. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the rhinos I see come out to play with magnums and orkans but sometimes they come out all plasma and sometimes they come out with short range ballistics. A couple of times I spied a rhino with mid range missles (spirals and hydra)

Rhinos are enjoying a brief resurgence. A Rhino's shield is no joke, and if you thought Galahad had a strong shield...

The Rhino can use either a max speed with the shield down equal to a LEO or natasha or Griffin. I would also like a half speed reverse in assault mode. It would still turn like crap but you would be able to inch back with your shield up.
I love the Rhino and keep using it but you have to play it perfectly and your opponents almost need to screw up to get kills (remember (almost) never chase!). With a squad its a bit better because your team mates will try to cover you but running a rhino solo is an exercise in staying zen. I've got the gold to do what I want but I'm waiting a little while my other bots are leveled to see how Orkanpalooza affects the meta and how I might be able to get a Dashbot.
