Bavarian style roast pork: You need a piece of pork, best would be from the shoulder. Slice the rind with a very sharp knife, but only to the fat, not deeper. If you cut deeper, it will dry out. No it has to be roasted from all sides with little fat in a pan. Meanwhile prepare a casserole with peeled quartered potatoes, onions and, if you like carrots. When the pork has a nice colour, put it on top of the vegetables in the casserole, rind topside, and put it in the oven. 130°C is enough. Now it takes time. Several hours. In that time I normally make the side dishes. Potatoe dumplings are great. Back to our meat. Prepare a small cup with a mix of oil, mustard and pepper. That mix is brushed over the rind every half hour. For extra taste and crunch. After the first hour, a sauce should be found in the casserole. If it's to little, add some water. Oh and a bit dark beer. After, well, 2-3 hours, add more heat and the grill function. Wait max 20 minutes. Ready to eat. Nothing complicated. It just takes time. In Bavaria we prefer dumplings as side dish. It is tradition. But noodles should do, too.

Queensland Cane Toad Mornay
1. Find and catch as many non-roadkill cane toads as possible. 2. Humanely terminate the cane toads, ensuring to not let the poison contact the legs. 3. Extract the leg meat of the cane toads carefully. You've done it right if the pieces are the same size and consistency as shredded chicken. 4. Cook the mornay as per a chicken mornay, but with a touch more vinegar and cheese to balance out the chlorine-like taste of cane toad. 5. Enjoy with a XXXX beer.

Red neck nachos.. chips n cheese in microwave, quick cheap fast.
Those frozen cat food burritos many have in the freezer or got in 7th grade... those are miles better if you stuff a dorito or two in and lap with some cheapo hot sauce (like those extra del taco or taco bell packets) in every bite. Can you tell where I made this discovery?
Favorite sandwich.. again chips.. guess I love chips... just make a sandwich and add a healthy layer of chippies inside, smash down a little and eat up. This works great with the mashed bottom of the bag remnants.
I am so hungry now...

I have my son hooked on breakfast burritos. I make them Los Angeles Roach Coach style for him with hash browns, spicy sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese. It's a dead simple process that's fairly quick and easy.

Tonights dinner is grilled mahi-mahi.
2 lemons juiced 2 table spoons olive oil 1 tablespoon mustard (I like Mister Mustard, don't use yellow mustard, that's just nasty) 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1/2 teaspoon salt Fresh ground pepper to taste You can also add freshly grated ginger to this as well.
Put it all in a bowl and whisk is up.
Brush it on mahi
Put on a slightly hotter than medium grill 4 minuted to a side. Brush mixture on several times during cooking.

BBQ-Shrimps: Mix 4 spoons of honey with a spoon of mustard, 1 spoon of tomato paste and two spoons of soysauce. Now add a teaspoon each of garlicpowder, chiliflakes, sweet paprikapowder and oregano. Mix it all together and then add about 500g of big shrimps. Mix again and let it be for 30 minutes. Now there are two ways: Stick them on shashlik-sticks and grill them, or roast them in a pan. Ready to eat...

On more practical side, some more "lazy, student style" (past long gone lol) pasta ideas: - Pasta + Gorgonzola = dumbest ever recipe, but never fails (not for me now as I'm not allowed to have cheese atm) in case too thick, add some olive oil - Pasta + home made pesto (I use my own version with: wallnuts/olive oil/basil/rucola/dried tomatos, no cheese) - Pasta aglio olio e peperoncino (when I do it it's for me only due to the ekhmm...excessive content of aglio/peperoncino fraction)

Peel 2 onions and 3 garlic cloves. Cut them all in small pieces, then roast them in olive oil. Add 100g small sliced bacon and 1kg minced meat, when the onions gain a nice colour. After that, add tomato paste and 2-3 cans of canned tomatoes. Add red wine. 1/4l. Lat it all cook at medium to small heat for a couple of hours. After ca 1 hour, try it and add salt, black pepper, oregano and paprika powder. Stir it, try again, then let it be. It is ready, when the tomatoes are hard to see, or almost vanished. Last add a bit of basil.
Bolognese! Serve with pasta, al dente of course, and parmesan.

"lazy, student style", volume 3: Pizza in 5 minutes...get 1 tortilla flat bread piece, put some tomato sauce on it (ketchup for mega-lazy ones), salami, cheese, paprika, onion slices, etc, whatever you have lying around. Put it on pre-heated pan (coated, 28cm diameter minimum) and give it some medium heat till cheese does what it's supposed to do on the pizza. If you time it right the bread looses enough moisture to become crunchy. With some experiments you may find it more practical to put the ingridients on the tortilla when it's already on the pan. Return to whatever you were doing 5min earlier and enjoy!

Simple one for some snacks. Roll out puff pastry on a bakeplate. Spread bacon stripes all over it. Then do the same with cheese. Emmentaler, cheddar or mozzarella. Either is fine. Add a bit paprika powder. Now wrap it all up and put the roll in the fridge for 20 minutes. Take it out and cut it in slices, about 0,5cm. Spread them on the bakeplate and get it in the oven. Bake it for about 15-20 minutes. Ready to snack.

Todays evening meal: Berner sausages. It is a sausage with cheese in it, wrapped in bacon. I make a special spice mix for them in my mortar, ingredients are secret. Sorry guys... Roast them with small heat in pan, until the bacon is crunchy and the cheese starts to come out.
Side dish is mashed potatoes, flavored with a bit of nutmeg and black pepper. Maybe a scrambled egg as a bonus with some roasted thick sliced ham.

Hehe, I just made rub for my chicken drumsticks in my trusty granite mortar: Tellicherry pepper, sea salt, roasted onions, paprika powder, the sweet one, a small amount of thai curry, chili flakes and fresh garlic. Just massaged it in. Now, I just have to wait half an hour, then the oven calls. This will be so good!!!

Oh, it's true. Women do like guys that can cook. The problem is that, once you've cooked for them, they'll then expect and ask you to cook from time to time. I like cooking. My wife discovered that fact early in to our marriage and now I regret it for the rest of my life.
