Leaving a game early (after the game starts) is perhaps the most selfish thing you can do in the game. You've essentially guaranteed the other team a win, and you've ruined 5 other player's games (some would say 11, because the other team's likely to win in a walk). So you're wasting 10 people's time why- because you don't like to lose?
I could say *exactly* the same for clans/squads fielding 4-6 maxed hangars with team communications (or at least coordination) vs randoms.
I get that clan-vs-clan is both fun and fair but tbh I drop a lot of the games where I see a red VOX/CH/Barbs/SDS/CosaNostra-squad pitted against a collection of blue random Noricum Natashas...
(btw, don't take this the wrong way, I am a huge fan of the excellent advice you write here and on the wiki).
When running full we'd much rather go up against full clans or tough randoms. Games won easily are a waste of time. Give me a worthy opponent and a tough match any day. So while both cases might be unfair I see them as very different- I'd put one down to the matchmaker and the second down to lack of a spine. And BTW, I run as a random often to increase the challenge even though I know I'll lose more often. I enjoy the games even when I don't like the outcome...

- I have no problems losing a battle and in fact close losses are often some of the most fun games. The problem I have is the Get-Steamrolled-in-4-minutes games that are no fun for blue and frankly I can't imagine that red team enjoys those either. The reason I play the game at all is for the good games (generally those taking at least 6-7 minutes), while I abhor the quick games whether won or lost. - re lack of spine... not agreed at all. Whether you blame the matchmaker for the bad games or players dropping out, well... The counterargument would be that "If clans didn't platoon, I wouldn't have to drop out of so many unfair games". Not saying that platooning is "wrong" as I understand that clan-vs-clan are likely very good games.
-Fwiw, I play random 99.9% of the time. Not sure what the clan-vs-clan ratio is when platooning, but from my perspective it would seem that you would end up in a clan-vs-random most of the time.
I don't think we'll agree on this - which is fine - I play the game to maximize my enjoyment and try not to be an arse to other people, however, leaving a clubbering feast imo does *no change at all* to the enjoyment of either parties involved. It was a s*itty matchup either way and my leaving only means it'll be over 30 sec earlier so everyone can move on to a (hopefully) better game.

I will always start every match and do my best no matter what setups I see drop in. However, there comes a point in some matches where it's obvious that there's no recovery. As soon as it becomes unwinnable I make a time based decision: Do I want to burn the remaining x minutes knowing that the outcome will not change, or is my time best spent in a new match? That's when I'll drop.

I mostly agree, got one exception, though. After a loosing streak, its good for the ego, to steamroll once, or twice. But normally I like the close calls better. It's just much more satisfying, to win with every ounce of skill, you got.

If you don't engage you'll never learn. Ecc thunders hurt them bad.

Is it ok to leave low level games whenever there are 1-2 Mag/Aphid Geps in enemy team? Don't see any way to win or even see the game as balanced whenever that happens. Plus the fact the since it is so low level, allies don't try to cap and are just standing and dying. From my experience, though my bots were turned into pancakes by Mag/Aphid Gepards, I stayed in the game to earn silver.
