Attachment DeletedSo I'm like 30 episodes into my Tarans Trek Next Generation box set a buddy gave me he had up for grabs at his Moving Away Yard Sale. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually been getting into it. Took me a min to dig on it. I'm pretty sure Worf and Wesley Crusher are having inappropriate relations, as forbidden based on Star Fleet regulations....

Twelve years ago I watched TNG on Spike TV just because I found it hilarious. There's one episode where Riker was freaking out for no apparent reason and then he collared some random dude, shouting "WHO ARRREE YOOOUUU???!!" with his lower jaw protruding out like Pinnochio's nose when he's uttering BS. Wish I remembered which episode that was.

TNG is a great series. There's a reason that Star Trek remains so popular. In my opinion, DS9 is far and away the best of the Star Trek Series, and one of the best all time sci-fi series. The cast, the writers, the perfect timing of special effects tech; it was a perfect storm. When you're done with TNG I strongly encourage you to watch DS9. Fair warning, the first 3 seasons are a lot of character building. Once the main story arc hits, though, you will be hooked!

Every trekkie knows it goes original, TNG, then Deep Space 9. The only exception is, if you grew up on TNG, then you can like it best.

Trekkie, here. Can answer all your Star Trek questions. I do recommend that you watch Star Trek: The Original Series because there are a few things that will make sense and carry over, as well as names and characters that you wouldn't recognize otherwise.
Star Trek is great because everything in the Series is achievable using real world physics. Everything is explainable and there is tons of material that will help you understand the physics and minutiae. The Series prides itself on continuity and is the only Series that spans more than 50 years and remains strong. The latest Series, "Discovery," goes in a new direction and is very interesting.
DS9 is considered by some to be slow and mostly on a different level. But that is because they do not understand the reasoning for most events in DS9. For example, Commander Sisko of DS9 is quoted as saying, "I'm not Picard!" in a very quiet sinister voice. Most believed that is because he was always being compared to Picard. The reason why Sisko is at odds with Picard is because, Picard killed Sisko's wife when he (Picard) was co-opted by the Borg. This makes Sisko hate Picard and carries over into the movies. However, you wouldn't know this unless you read the Comics and some novels. Star Trek has an incredible crossover and remains firmly consistent. Star Trek is a complete universe.
It is responsible for giving us the Space Shuttle, cellphone (Communicator), tablet (Data-pad), CERN has made breakthroughs in developing Isolinear chips, SIEMENS has developed and created the "Medical tri-corder" and so many other ideas and directions. It continues to push the boundaries and humanity forward. But perhaps the greatest influence that Star Trek has can be seen that the United Nations has adopted all 52 Articles of the Federation. In fact, they have made them U.N. General Order No.1 ..
Even if that wasn't enough .. the Borg - 'nuff said ..

I grew up, watching TOS on re-runs, and still remember watching the TNG pilot when it originally aired. While I would consider most of Star Trek required viewing, excluding Enterprise and ST 5, I would argue that DS9 is superior in every way. Oh, and just to add to the fire, Sisko>Picard>Kirk.

I won't hear any more of this madness. You belong in some sort of Q purgatory until you can think straight.
