So, I've been feeling a bit underwhelmed lately with my Cryo Launcher 12 and my Disruptor 12. I don't have the splash implant for the Cryo Launcher, and I think that's what makes my NL12 such a good weapon. As for Disruptor, it's a fun weapon in certain situations but hard to use in most others.
I tend to favour weapons that have good engagement range options and since I already have 2 CQC weapons: AT12 and EG12, I really need a weapon that can engage mid to short long. All 3 of these weapons can do that with varying degrees of success.
The advantage of the MG is that it seems to be the most powerful up close. It's also currently available for 7500 Acoins which won't take me too long to save up for. But, I'll also need a new pilot and would then have to decide between saving and getting the Epic or splurging and getting the legendary.
The other two are Assault, and this would be a good chance for me to finally use Major. He's been sitting at R5 forever. I watched a couple of vids and the Viper seems like it's basically a ballistic version of the Graviton Beam. This is not necessarily a bad thing since I only have GB16 and have been thinking of getting GB12 since I already have a maxed legendary pilot for beams. But, if I get the Viper, I won't need to get GB12. On the other hand, if I get GB12, then I don't need to get Viper. For my Panther, I use GB16 in one hangar and HR16 in the other. Lately, I have noticed that it's taking longer to kill with GB16 but since I tend to engage at range behind the Stasis Field, I still score pretty good with it generally.
The Overdriver is more similar in terms of power to the MG. It's more powerful than the Viper but I think the Viper does better at further ranges and can fire for longer periods as long as the mag lasts. In the comparison video between Overdriver and Minigun, the MG was better at closer ranges while the Overdriver is better further out. The MG can fire longer but then has a much longer reload.
Currently, I'm kinda leaning towards the Overdriver because I can use Major and because it offers more engagement range options. I'm planning on using Aegis and Eclipse and then deciding between those which I like better. I am leaning more towards Eclipse though. Of course, if I decide on Overdriver, I have to wait for it to be available in in-game resources or wait to buy it at a lower rank for money. Currently, it's $129 CAD for R5.
Thoughts?
