I'm not saying we should all be Miss Mary Sunshine either, of course. Just, reminding myself and whoever else that happiness requires, more than anything, the decision to be happy.

I agree with what you said there. Seen it happen with this forum. Too much complaining and no helping out the way it used to be here. Feel like it chased peeps away. I may do a weekly tip guide just to help out.

You cant build a community around toxicity... ...dont cultivate a toxic community..
And therein lies the problem. The basis for all of this is the game itself, it is designed to be toxic, its blatant and insidious social engineering inspires toxic responses. However, you are correct, how you choose to react can perpetuate that toxicity, but that doesnt mean you are doing it intentionally, or have to take it with you Some things are unavoidable, and people spouting off valid criticisms doesnt necessarily equate to toxicity, or the cultivation of it within the community.
I've heard the equivalent of "the game is what it is, so no point being negative about it" from a couple/few here, but that in itself can further the toxicity in some quarters.
A bit of a chicken/egg problem...
I guess the point being, if the foundation itself is toxic, anything built on it will also be toxic in some capacity... no matter how pretty it looks

I have an "it is what it is" attitude about the monetization model... as I've said before, remember that playing this game is like dating a golddigger--no matter how much you love it, it will never love you back, but if you remember what this is about, you can have a lot of fun. I hope the people who are toxic don't see this as me attacking them, because I AM them. I'm not blaming people for that. Our lizard brains do that. We want to express our emotional reaction to things that upset us, and we rationalize circles around ourselves to justify doing it. I know as well as anyone--heck, I did it for a living for a long time. I understand one of the big reasons why the game inflames my personal toxicity so much. A lot of us turn to games in the first place because life isn't fair. We want something in our lives where we're given some agency to control the outcome, because in a lot of cases and a lot of places, we don't have that agency, right? So to turn to a game where the rules can be anything... and to have it made not only unfair, but unfair in a way that still rewards the people who are already financially rewarded by the real world we tried to escape in the first place?!?!? Oof, man. Disregulating. And we've been toxic about it for at least eight years now (when did the dashbots come out?) and... how's that working for us? Speaking personally, I've said some messed up things to people, wished some awful things on them, stressed out my own nervous system, made people not want to be around me when I'm playing, and been miserable a whole lot over things that aren't in my control and don't actually impact my life all that much. Pretty stupid, when I think about it. So when I say not to be toxic, it's not because I'm upset with people who are... it's a sense of compassion that they should learn that lesson without doing it the hard way, the way I have.

Don't over think it, it's a game where we blow 「dookie」 up and then talk 「dookie」 up.
No different to sitting in a bar and complaining about taxes or the price of a beer.

Okay, I’ll bite… /rant on/
A toxic community starts with, albeit adversely, the same way the recycling garbage program started in the 80s/90s… with YOU. The metaphoric you, that is. Many great thinker throughout the ages started global movements for the betterments of all mankind, with the power of one.
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ~Mahatma Gandhi
That being said, it also pays off to “Lurk More / Whine Less”. This helps everybody; newbies, n00bs, and the old guard. Sadly, this can be difficult in an online game setting, with a lousy track record of power-leap and pay to win, all wrapped up in the combat last-man/team-standing game that is Walking War Robots. I think it’s always been like this, at least since the Magnum Gepard ruled the day, and the Leech pushed me out of the game for many a year. (Breaking the general laws of physics in the game really tarnished my buckle.). Again, honor The Golden Rule
/rant off/.
