Getting closer to getting my Tengu into my hanger. I’ve got the ember gun 8s with blue damage and and purple range implants. Then this pops up today: I’ve always wanted them, but now I’m second guessing myself and/or adjusting expectations. Tengu’s a pretty light platform with low HP anyhow. This game is more and more feeling like an arms race and MM seems to determine my winnings (and fun) now. I don’t like to reward developers for frustration and this spring’s been frustrating. Plus, purple ember damage implants bound to drop someday. Ten dollars for 7% difference? Basically, anyone agree that gold ember implants are unwarranted? Revoker’s out too and at the rate Plarium develops new content they’ll always be something else to spend on… On a side note, I’m debating between Neeve and Neymar. Neymar’s foot speed is attractive on an Tennie and he’s maxed. Neeve is a new acquisition. I could save Neymar for when and if I get Revokers. Use Neeve for ember Tengu? Thanks. I appreciate ya.

I randomly got the gold damage implant in a crate, but before that, this was the first set of implants I was thinking of paying for. The damage in particular seems to make real difference, letting you finish off reds in less shots. Another 5m of range is useful too.
EG8s and Tengu would be the part I'm less sure about. But if you ever plan on mounting the 12s in an Eclipse, I'd say this would be a solid purchase.

Otherwise, I do have storm rack 8s and the legendary reload implant.

Otherwise, I do have storm rack 8s and the legendary reload implant. Go with Storm Racks. With the gold reload implant that should work great. I haven't actually seen anyone running Revolvers yet, except AI. I think they're supposed to be good but not quite as good as Embers so no one is really rushing them, but IDK. They're range is similar to Ember's so Storm Racks should definitely be stronger. I have SR12s with the gold reload and I am definitely a fan. The splash damage isn't as good as DLs but it is still handy. I want to try the Tengu SR8 myself but my Tengu is 4-Star, so right now my plan is to get my SR16 to 6-Stsr, then maybe max the Tengu and try it with a single one of those before buying an SR8. Not sure if I'll actually end up carrying that all but it looks like a fun build!

A word about light mechs from a guy who once aspired to build a light mech hangar...don't do this!
Light mechs have stupidly high power ratings. My maxed Eclipse has a power rating of 948. My maxed Tengu has a power rating of 911 and my Shadow is at 869. This was why when I was running a light hangar, I was running into maxed Onyx's and stuff. Hopefully Plarium fixes this power rating issue, but until then, light mech just can't cut it in end game.
As for the Ember Gun implants, go for it! Ember Guns are pretty meta right now. They rock in FFA on Eclipse. Their only drawbacks are range and reload speed. Range can be mitigated with implants and smart maneuvering. I don't know if there's a reload speed implant or not. I know that if I don't kill my target in the first salvo in my Seeker (I only have purple implants and a non maxed Neev), I have a less than 50% survival rate.

So I got something wrong earlier about Revokers. Turns out their natural range is better than Embers at 39m (optimal is 26m I think?). And then there is a gold range implant that boosts them to 50% max or 58.5m, and a purple one that maxes at 30% or 52m.
I would still totally go with Storm Racks, especially if you have the gold reload implant. But I wanted to post the correct info.

Well, the Tengu is maxed. My storm racks are not. I’m currently credit poor. I’m using Neymar as a pilot with no damage implants. I don’t have any, suspiciously. I do have the gold reload implant which helps a bunch. It’s still early days and those SR are lower level but there are some impressions I can share: Tengu is super squishy in the present meta. Forget brawling. It may have 18 months ago; today no way. Mini-guns and many 12EN-16EN weapons will make you disappear. Quickly. I appreciate that S1E1 suggested storm racks. You can keep some distance from the action with’em. Revokers may allow you to be more aggressive with Tengu, but I’m not confident of that. Can’t suggest any of the Tengu specific implants for it. I just think it’s HP is too low to allow you to make good use of them. I am going to load some epic cooldown/duration implants and max them out to see how stealthy I can make it. I have the legendary cooldown implant but I think I’m going to pair it with a GB10 pilot that gives me more flexibility across my hanger. Would I suggest you get a Tengu? No. I think Plarium’s moved on from Tengu’s initial purpose and viability. Wouldn’t be surprised if a replacement with similar mechanics came out the way Eclipse appealed to Shadow lovers. That seems to be Plar’s MO now. EDIT: I haven’t used any Tengu specific implants and I’ve only used it for a week. Plus, the stormies aren’t maxed so my opinions may change. It’d be nice if Plarium would consider increasing Tengu’s EN to 20.

Beyond that power level yeah its squishy, except for guided weapons or mortars.
