Somewhat good news like this has been a long time coming Sept 27, 2023 21:53:54 GMT -5 Cdr. Crimmins, Eradicator1, and 2 more like this

With this change, supposedly mk1 upgrades get 55% cheaper and mk2 upgrades get 25% more expensive. In total, the upgrade prices go from 340M to 420M,
By this graph, Mk1 upgrades go down to 68M and mk2 upgrade shoot all the way up to 352M for a total of 420M.
The total cost of upgrades goes up by 80M, or 20%. As a trade off for the upgrade plateau being moved into mk2, this sounds okay, but we're missing something important.
Something to keep in mind is that chances are, the vast majority of the playerbase strictly upgrades during 40% sales, so the true cost of maxxing something is about 204M silver, split roughtly equally between mk1 and mk2 at 102M each. This is a much harsher change, as the total price a little over doubles with the trade off being a 50% reduction in mk1 costs.
Now, this is only considering that should this feature become permanent, 40% sales go extinct. We don't know if that will happen, because if it doesn't, this is a mostly good change that I would welcome with open arms. If we continue to get 40% sales, getting to mk2 costs a measly 41M and getting to mk3 costs a reasonable 211M, total 252M, or 48M more than before (I'd say it's worth it.)
But something makes me worried that our beloved 40% upgrade day will be taken away from us in favor of this system, which will make mk2 realistic, but mk3 impossible - an especially problematic thing considering recently mk3 gear has been getting far more than just the original 5% bonuses (example: ochokochi goes from 40% dot resistance to 60% from mk2 to mk3, making mk3 basically a requirement).
Also, I hope that the silver boosts stay. I doubt they will, but maybe at least as events. The amount of silver you get sans premium is just pitiful rn.
This is still a price increase to upgrade your stuff
Prior to this change (and I'm betting it will be permanent), it cost about 352 million Ag to fully upgrade a T4 bot or weapon from 1 to Mk2.12. After this change, the cost will be higher than the 420 million Ag noted above—don't forget that the Pixonic community rep said the cost of upgrading to M2.11 (not 12) would be about 25% higher, and so that does not include the single most expensive upgrade. We will know soon, but I'm guessing the increase is more like 50%, not 25%.
And unlike the new economy, there doesn't appear to be any plan to provide players' current bots or equipment with a protected upgrade value.
Also, this change is a double hit to players who have partially upgraded stuff.
If you have a Mk1.12 bot, under the current system you've paid half the Ag (50%) cost to fully upgrade it. But once this change goes into effect, it will cost you substantially more to upgrade that same bot to Mk2.12. Pixonic will have replaced your very pricey Mk1.11 and Mk1.12 upgrades with much cheaper ones from which you didn't benefit, and in return you get much more expensive Mk2 upgrades.
The potential silver (ha!) lining is that maybe it will be easier to upgrade stuff to a usable level. But this is still a price increase. And the fact that Pixonic obfuscates that this is a price shouldn't be relevant to stating that reality.
The players hurt the most by this change are the whales who upgrade everything
Pixonic is absurdly reliant on a tiny group of mega whales who drop insane amounts of cash into a phone game. And Pixonic is betting those players will pay even more. Pixonic might even be right! But it is telling that Pixonic will go to such lengths to disguise this price increase from the players. For those of you who are those players, take note that Pixonic thinks you are too stupid to realize the price is going up.
