Ok so I've been thinking...I have a pair of EMR16s that are wasting away. My Maverick is fully maxed and I keep thinking that maybe I should run another sniper build. Currently, I have RG16 with Arc Angel on Guardian and it's hands down my best mech. I guess I really mesh with this build since Beta days with the old Thanos build.
Anyway, after the nerf of EMRs, where the sticky targeting was taken away, I've been unable to use them and have switched back to GB16 Panther. I've tried EMR16 on Redox but just can't seem to make it work. My problem is the sticky targeting. With RG16 and the old EMR, I've gotten into the habit of moving while shooting. Not only that, I tend to jerk my right thumb a bit. This doesn't really cause a problem with the instantaneous fire of RG and the auto aim of GB but is havok with EMR. I just don't seem to have the mechanical skill to run the EMR as they are.
That said, I have had some success with with them on Panther. When I pull Panther out, I often get a bunch of kills thanks to my implants for longer Ability Duration and higher Field height. FYI, the higher field height implant is great for blocking Helix and Javelins and Scorpios' missiles. I haven't had much luck running GBs on other mechs other than Panther because the beam type of weapon meshes really well with Panther's Stasis Field and in a linear situation, nothing controls the field quite like this build.
But...against humans, GBs can be problematic. As soon as they realize you have GBs, they will just hunker down and camp and wait for a team mate to take me out. Or wait till I change focus and flank me. The thing with GBs is that you have to fully expose yourself to take full advantage of the quicker implosion time. 1.5s vs 3s. It's a high risk, high reward weapon. But, as I'm getting more and more human opponents, I've been thinking maybe I just need to train myself to use the EMRs.
That's when I thought about Puma. Yes, the Puma's shield has HP and is not invulnerable, but would it give me enough time to pull off shots? Am I better off finishing maxing my Bastion and cloning my EM12? Basion is at 6.3 and EMR is 5.x (can't remember).
Anyway, I really don't want to give up GB16 on Panther. Any thoughts?
