Since we've had >^\}VULTURE{/^< 's perfectly named Great Drone Rip Off, I am really wondering whether Pixonic will draft more "reworks" on the test server. We've already started a possible active modules rework on the test server, with the new Unstable Conduit which is basically Advanced Repair and Death Mark combined. Next there will probably be a pilot rework, because that system will come up as "outdated" on Pixonic's system, then we can probably expect to have all our leveled pilots ripped away from us and given back at level 1, where we will have special DNA cells to level them back up for useless skills. Then they will finally realise workshop has been dead and buried for years, (I mean, seriously, what is the point of spending a month building a bot when you can buy a full MK2 one with MK2 weapons in the store for £6.99?) and do some kind of rework for that too. Maybe along the lines of "Spend gold for the newest OP weapons". Then we will get a Black Market rework, where the drop rates will be as dog「dookie」 as the events are... and it will keep spiralling downward.

I’m not sure personally. These reworks are of course in the name of profit, but active modules and pilots are already pretty conducive to that. Unlike old drones where you could carry microchips over to new drones, pilots cannot be transferred between bots at all, which of course encourages spending. Active modules are also pretty monetized as-is, requiring currency to be spent during battle to function. I’d imagine these two features are bringing in a bit more money than the old drones were.
But also, I would not be surprised if Pixonic decides to push things just a little further with even worse monetization. I think they would not do a full-scale rework, but rather just do some rework to the prices or how you obtain the currency, similar to the pilot price reworks they did a couple years ago. Pixonic hasn’t backed itself into a corner with these yet, so I’m not expecting anything too soon.

Nice topic but I decided to look at the Tecovas Boot advertisement at the bottom of the page rather then post something constructive. I’ll be back !

Interesting point from Wolfblood about the Workshop. With PIX now offering not only any bot, weapon or drone at MK2 (not the drone...) it has really killed Workshop. I can remember really looking forward to some bot or weapon becoming part of workshop and then laboriously buying the components... and waiting and waiting. I'm really surprised they have not already found some better way to monetize this more fully.
Another side effect of selling of MK2 Meta bots is you now have them all over the useless Leagues system. Used to be you really had to wait, work and save to get the latest gear now you can be a new comer in Diamond League and for $14.99 roll on out in a MK2 Unknown Seraph with a set of MK2 Unknown Decay's and lay some pain on your fellows.

What’s really killing the workshop in my eyes is how it lies completely derelict in terms of getting new stuff added to it. As an easy example, Kephri has literally been in the game for over a year now and it has still not been added to the workshop. Stuff like this is why the meta seems so hard to get these days, because there is this giant pool of equipment that is not easily obtainable. I guess we just gotta wait for something to get gutted like Fafnir was so it can be added.

Oh my God how right you are. Why bother reporting pilots as too powerful for their league? What does that even mean? The first time I saw a Mk2 bot for sale was, for me, when things really jumped the shark.

Yes. Everything reworked. And then they start over again. That’s when we’ll get the “Classic” version. Clunky, Atari 2600, pixelated bots. But now with EVEN MORE lag!

"Will there be more "reworks"?"
I think the equivalent question is "Does bear 「dookie」 in the woods?"
The sheer amount of crap they are throwing into the game means that everything will have to be reworked at some point.

I honestly had never heard that idiom before and had to look it up. For the other rubes like myself...

I'm really surprised they have not already found some better way to monetize this more fully. I have totally stopped using the workshop. Two things killed it: * extra damage from "special" weapons (that can't be made in the workshop) * length of time it takes My main use of it now is after waiting a decade or two for a weapon to become buildable is to finish it off an incomplete collection of shards.
