I have about 1000 wins, and my weps/bots average is around 8. (I'm slowly working to 9, but I like to have options, so it takes me forever). Most of my clan mates that are in Expert ( III ) have weapons that are (on average) a level or two above mine, and most of the randoms I drop in with range from 9-12. Very rarely do I see someone with similar gear to mine. My win rate fluctuates wildly (38%-60%), as do my league points. It gets frustrating getting torn to bits by 12/12s, and fighting players with thousands of wins. I get the MM problems and all that, but things seemed less imba when I was in Diamond. I'm not gonna tank, but I do wish I wasn't in a league where I'm perpetually outclassed.
So, the question at hand, why did the MM see fit to put me here? I occasionally see people in low Diamond with similar stats to mine (or any other ranking lower than Expert III), and wonder what invisible criteria keeps them there, or put them there to begin with. That is to say: from the start of the new MM and it's measurements, how does someone with almost identical stats end up a league away? The win rate they had when the MM came online? Those 5 qualifying battle? (riiiiight...) High damage? (my damage in those first qualifying round was like average 300k or something... they weren't exactly a great performance)
Anybody have all the answers?
ALL OF THEM ?
Edit: I'm in iOS, btw Edit: Wait... it says that in my profile. ?

Not sure why your league would vary from your clanmates on the same OS, but don't get caught comparing yourself cross platform. Android level 8 gear lands you in Gold League. On iOS, that would appear to be diamond or expert levels.
Cheers!

Interesting... I suppose a good sum of the people chatting on discord and the like are on android, and some of their stats have made me wonder. Even still, my matches in Expert are where I collect most of my data from. (I don't write it all down and tabulate it like Dredd or anything, I just make a habit of checking...)

Not sure I can answer the question but can contribute as a iOS pilot with an 8/8 hangar in D2. I regularly get matched with Expert level pilots and 70% of the time see reds with 10 and up gear: - I don't clan or squad but it's possible those who do can move up leagues faster than their bot levels due to team play increasing wins/points - Skilled pilots tend to get punished, i mean honored/rewarded, with better competition in this MM, take it as a compliment if you can - I think damage output/average has a big impact on initial placement so if you have high DPS weapons & leveled higher than your bots you could be producing well in a stat category the MM "rewards" with progression - I think things are wonky right now because the new league started recently and the Leaver Protection is active for iOS, so could be a slow sorting going on skewing league pilot leveling - been seeing lots of soft tanking lately, with high level players only running 1-2 bots to get about 90k damage and a beacon then not dropping more bots. This can take them down the league ladder to farm but its prob more time consuming so they don't go to really low levels and just farm Diamond and Expert when they should be Master or Champ - but this is pure speculation. No real advice other than keep plugging and upgrading. Getting to 12/12 is the only real way to even your odds - until the MM starts pairing you with really low level teammates to keep your win rate around 50%. That feels like the only constant unless you only squad against clans - in solo the MM can do what it wants to keep you around 50%.

I'm on Android and I made it to Expert III with 8/9 bot configurations so I don't think this is rare. I thought I was going to drop out of Expert III as my win rate dropped to 50% but once I upgraded a few bots to level 10 my win rate improved to a bit and allowed me to advance further into Expert III.

You belong in Expert due to clanmates or skill. If you don't belong there, then you should have dropped points and lost matches in the last month, bringing you back down. It's easy to go down, but much harder to go back up in general.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm currently in Diamond 1 about 100 pts from Expert III. Might get there, might not with my current 8-9 hangar. You should realize that you're hitting above your bot/weapon expected load-out. This could be due to four things:
1) You have all premium bots and weapons where most have some premium so you actually have the advantage. 2) You've done your bot load-out correctly and aren't mixing ranges, weapon types etc. unless there's a strong advantage to it. 3) You have your fifth slot... a lot of four slot players have higher bots, but end up stagnating because they're handicapping their team due to the lack of that fifth slot. 4) You're a good player... nuff said.
Personally, I always attribute my league ranking to fourth reason never to the other three... but they also help.

I've been in Expert since leagues started and every time I get close to making the jump to Masters, Pixo turns on extra gravity by way of crappy matches and drags me down.
I think IOS Expert is a catch all league...I get paired with everyone from Gold to Champion league players regularly. The worst is when some bronze player got tossed into a game and promptly 「dookied」 his electronic brains out.
