You have to go to one of these races in person. Bring hearing protection. Seriously. Make it so.

Top fuel cars are no joke. Freaking loud! Even from the stands. If you do go, try to get in the pits. To “feel” the power that close is insane. They first fire the engine up on alcohol and you are thinking, man this thing seems lame. Then they turn the switch over to nitro methane. OMG. The engine gets violent at that point. Jumping and spitting like a crazed viper. Soooo cool.

Jumping and spitting like a crazed viper. Soooo cool. i quit smoking in 2005, but right before, i won a prize from marlboro. I was only told to be AT texas motor speedway at such a time, and bring a friend for the day. Long story short, we got to do laps in a nascar series racers, got up to about 200. Then took out a series of new mustangs for drifting. Them got a small taste of formula one cars, not driving but got to sit in it with the engine going and rev it a bit. All in all an amazing experience. Met so many cool people, fed like a king, got to put on the suit and everything. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
