I know this may sound like I am comparing apples to oranges but which of the two, fafnir or revenant, takes less bells and whistles to do well? I won't have to worry about weapons but things such as modules and pilot skills would be what I don't want to invest a ton in. Also it would be nice to hear which is more fun to play.

I would say Fafnir is the less needy of the two. Fafnir can brawl or do midrange, is able to make do without a good drone/pilot, and its ability can be a get-out-of-jail-free card. While Revenant is tougher and thus arguably more forgiving to mistakes, it seriously needs a good drone and a good pilot to do well, and is only good for brawling. If you want versatility, definitely do Fafnir.

Both are somewhat disappointing and require high level modules and pilot skills to make usable in Masters League/Champions League. Purely situational, but Fafnir can be rewarding if you have the "ignore energy shields" pilot and can get the built-in gun charged up. (All about timing) If you don't have a good team though to engage the reds, you can almost never make this work. Someone with shield breaker will blast you out of the sky almost as soon as you take off. Revenant sounds tough, but there are tougher tanks, e.g. Fenrir, Invader. The Revenants that seem unkillable have everything maxed, and I also suspect some cheating going on in some cases. I would choose Fafnir between the two.

Thanks for the input! Luckily I don't have to worry about being competitive in those higher leagues as I am pretty solidly stuck in Diamond. Just wanted some advice from people who have used both.

In that case, I would imagine either one would do very well in DL. Then it depends on your play style. Revenant is definitely a brawler. Fafnir is probably more of a support bot.
