This is my first post on this forum, been reader for quite some time now. Feels like I know a few of you, lol.
I'll echo some of the stuff you guys have been posting, and my observations are the same in many cases, but I wanted to get another one of these "stories" out into the public as it were.
All the points about hacking are dead-on, I cant say this is rare, because I've seen more of it since the last update. I've been gaming in general for 30 years, and I write code for a living, and a lot of it, lol. In a game, dirty tricks that turn into patterns are intentional, and when intentionally ignored, is part of the Developers plan. In the 'old days' we called this DSC, Developer Sanctioned Cheating. These aren't really hacks per say, but intentionally left (or created) code-holes that are then communicated to select individuals and/or groups for their special use. These are never closed unless it directly affects their revenue model, i.e. the 'cheat' got into the wild, and too many people are using it that aren't supposed to be.
This is most likely true of Pixonic in my honest opinion, as their entire business model is based entirely on raw greed. Its not about gaming, or skill, or fairness. Its about every possible way to extract money from the masses, honest or otherwise. If that means big money spenders get the privilege to club baby Seals, then people who cant spend big money become cannon fodder. The idea being, that baby Seals will want to be big Seals, and drop a few dollars on the game to level-up more quickly... not realizing they've fallen into a trap. Pixonic will simply reposition them as baby Seals relative to whoever dropped big money on the game. P2W is truly for the skill-less and inept, that happen to have cash laying around.
As you all are aware, MatchMaker is hopelessly ridiculous these days. I will make the argument that's its not 'broken' in a direct sense, but functioning exactly as Pixonic has intended. My son also plays War Robots, so I began tracking some metrics, first on myself, then the same on my sons.
I am currently Expert III, with a middle-of-the-pack hangar at best, really nothing to brag about. I ran 20 matches in a row with the following results:
16 losses, my team completely slaughtered, generally less than 10 kills, more than 30 on the other side typical. In all 16, at least 1 whale present in the match on the other team, in 3 of those, 2 whales on the other team. NONE on my team. Essentially unstoppable by my team with all their mid-range hangars. I certainly don't belong in a match with a guy with MK3 "everything" and max'd "everything else". Cant even put a dent in them unless they royally screw up, and even then its a chore every time and I'm still dead in the end.
Of the remaining 4 matches: 2 were properly matched for similar hangars and league levels. Close wins/losses in those 2 cases (those were the only fun ones). The other 2, my team completely slaughtered the other team. Why, because we had a whale who was essentially untouchable and wiped the floor with them. I don't even know why I bothered spawning, felt like I just sat in my Erebus drinking tea for a few minutes while the blood-bath ensued.
My son then ran the same test, 20 matches, me collecting the match metrics. I would like to say I was shocked, but not! My sons 20 matches, identical pattern and results. 16, 2, 2. Same exact reasons. That's one hell of a coincidence... not bloody likely.
Did see a small handful of tankers, and while they are complete jerks, I don't think they would have tipped the balance significantly in any case.
Seen too many other dumb things, 4000 power cells go missing overnight, spawn-locked with almost a full hangar left, destroyed on spawn with no one near me or orbital strike possible, just exploded instantly. Saw a guy with a flying Arthur, WT-Frak is that. MK3 'tokens'. The list goes on.,,
My gawd, why dont they just create the Mega Cube, a square box with no design, no weapons, no modules, infinite armor/shield, just click once and the enemy team is destroyed and spawn-locked, on sale for $1000. Nerf'd in 6 months and replaced with the Mega Sphere for $1500, which does exactly the same thing, and destroys Mega Cubes, AND not only on the server you're on, but the 4 nearest servers you aren't on! Kills galore!
At this point, I wont spend another dime on the game, and I have told my son he cant either, luckily he doesn't want to after all we observed. It's a complete waste. Once I run out of power-cells, War Robots can completely and utterly piss off.
Thanks for the rant time everyone
