What do you think of the double tourney match time? Personally, I don’t like it. I’ve won two tourney matches today. Otherwise it’s me and blue getting eliminated.
I think the four minute matches highlight where the game is currently headed, and what I don’t like about it. Skill matters less than having the right weapons with better enhancements I can barely beat human players any more. I don’t run mortars, EM rifles, graviton beams, etc. Yeah, that’s on me, but I have an aversion to one shot kill weapons. Sparring is so much more enjoyable and what made this game great in beta.
I’ve had a few matches where my hanger was eliminated with enough time to watch the match for 30-50 seconds. So much fun. Especially that first match. Love being a spectator.
I’ll keep playing. It’s still better than War Robots and I’ve spent too much to just stop. But I’m done giving Plarium any financial support. Most of my wins now are decided by matchmaking. It’d cost too much to make my hanger relevant for tourney.
Sorry my question turned into a rant. Just getting frustrated with this game and mobile games in general.

I didn't like the double time either. Not sure what was the rationale for that test. I really hope it's not going to last... being chased by, or chasing the last opponent feels weird and I'm not enjoying it at all. Additionally, now makes a huge difference if you play only against bots, it's possible to finish the battle in half of the time, and that makes the tournament even more unbalanced.

So far I've mostly gotten AI so I'm not sure. I definitely scored more points. Played my usual 9 matches today and got about 2,000 more points than I would expect. But I only went up against 2 humans and I won those so I was going to get more points regardless. The dynamic of just hunting down one guy feels weird and a bit sad. But it does mellow out the stakes in the match a bit and while I think it adds time overall, I didn't have any 3-round matches. Overall I don't think they'll keep this. If it lowers the frustration intensity of earning in tournament and makes it easier to get more A-Coins for free, I imagine they'll abandon the idea. Still, I got to test this out more to see what it really does. Also, it kinda skews everything that they are doing this test on 3 Rocket Mortar dominant maps.

I don't like it. All but one game yesterday was against AI. The good part was that my score was outrageous against AI and put me in first place. But, I also finished most matches in 3 minutes or less with mech out for the reds.
I did have one match against a single human, and that was enjoyable even though I lost in the end. All things considered though, I think they should split the difference and go 3 minute matches. That, or just leave it the way it is.

I played my first today, me, and a friend against ai. It didn't add too much time, But Im sure it will against most players. I like the short game format better, now a 5v5 a possible 3 games could take 12 minutes.

I didn't want to like this because it seemed like it would be a big time suck, but I am digging this experiment. I just got 20 kills in a single round. Scored several 800+ pt matches today and jumped out to a huge lead with no one chasing. So far even though I am scoring a lot more, the others in my bracket seem to stick to the same lower point levels as before And it's really taking the edge off of individual matches - far less nail-biting tension. Less stress, more tickets saved, and easier earnings - so far, so good. I think I'd prefer agree 3 minute matches overall, but yeah I like the change.

Because I feel that with this new format, the difference between playing against bots or a couple of human players became bigger than ever. I can score 800 in half of the time playing against bots. Is just more unfair, happy that you were in the "good side" of the equation, but still not a good change for me

Is just more unfair, happy that you were in the "good side" of the equation, but still not a good change for me Yesterday was more bots but I had a good number of humans today. I was actually able to turn a couple matches around because of the extra time, even though they still had AI in support. Today's map was particularly good in terms of corners/hiding places - more open maps make being outnumbered harder. But so far I feel like there are advantages in the longer timeline. I am a low spender so I don't have the Legendary pilots, or latest mechs levelled up enough for tourney. But I have built a broad hangar and have a lot of experience playing those mechs. As the match gets longer and we cycle through more mechs, I feel like it gives me some advantage. And win or lose, I am liking the dueling aspect of it and the need for strategy. The only thing that really bugs me is when I stalk a player for half a minute, freeze him and then he ejects instead of letting me get points for the kill. That has always driven me nuts, but it's extra douchy when it's just down to 1v1. But that's just me. The tournament experience varies a lot by when you play and how much time you have to establish a points lead in your bracket.

I am getting more points per match and many Godlikes. So that's good.Though I'm not a fan of tournament in general. I just play a few and hope to get some rewards. Then I play for tasks and achievements or if I get an invite to a match. Overall matches are too long now.

Ugggh, yesterday was a grind. But that was mostly because I had some guy chasing me long after it was obvious that they shouldn't bother. Good news is I am now 1200 A-Coins closer to maxing my Stalker. I have to say with the longer times, it starts becoming a question how much you should fight to win and make a match go into a third round. When you have someone in your heels in terms of bracket position, it seems better to let yourself lose. I didn't go that route, but if they make the longer times permanent, then it'll definitely become a popular strategy. Hit a new record though thanks to this.
