Just won this Fafnir this morning in a superchest. Should I bother spending silver to level it? I hear they are not that good now from some post I’ve read. Currently got it to level 4 but haven’t used it. Was leveling it while I was at work. I’m currently in expert 3. I’ve gone from private or bronze to expert in about 3 days on iOS. Most of my stuff is lvl 8/9, with the exception of a couple lvl 1 mk2 purchases.

The problem was they nerfed it and Froodles in one fell swoop and made what was easily the most effective and OP bot/set up on the battlefield at the time pretty hopeless in comparison to what it was before. Consequently, everyone pretty much immediately dropped it. I used mine again recently for the Tasks and have had a change of mind about it being completely useless now. I think, get as much extra speed as you can and put some good weapons on it, it will be fun and worth levelling.

Decided to give it a try. Currently have these weapons available to use. It’s not bad, freeze & blast.

If you are set on using it, you definitely will want to acquire Belov, as that pilot gives permanent shieldbreaker while airborne.
Also, do you understand how the built-in weapon works?

I've just run it a few times tonight so far. So I'm still learning how to play the mech. Built in weapon seems to fire while in the air is about all I know atm.

The built-in weapon is charged up by the Absorber shield taking damage during lift off. Without charging up this Absorber, the built-in will be very weak. So in this regard you want to run Fafnir like its a flying Ares - stay grounded firing at enemies to get attention, then lift off when a bunch of them are firing at you. If you do this when titans come out and let them fire at you, it is possible your built-in alone can destroy a titan by itself quite quickly. The Absorber is only temporary, so you want to be careful to fly near cover, and to equip Advanced Repair Unit to help you stay alive. If you have Aegis shields active from motherships, do not take off until the Aegis (yellow bar) has been depleted, otherwise the enemy fire will hit the Aegis and not charge up your Absorber. When it is about depleted from taking enemy fire, take off and let the Absorber charge up. How quickly the built-in damages enemies is your measurement of whether to stay in flight or to land and try charging up the Absorber again. This weapon is the main value of the Fafnir, so if you dont take advantage of that this mech becomes a bit mediocre and not living up to its true potential, which is multiple living legend streaks and slicing through enemies like butter. One last point is that taking off while in the Moon tunnel or under things like Canyon center bridge or a Carrier platform where we are taking a 「dookie」 load of damage is not only ideal for how much enemy fire hits absorber during take off, but we establish a lower flight ceiling. Not only is a low flight pattern ideal for taking less enemy fire while airborne, but enemies are more easily ambushed by a low flying Fafnir, and slaughtered with ease due to the combo of being charged up and assaulting in a manner unexpected of Fafnirs.

Btw I still frequently use Fafnir, mainly with Hazard Pulsar, and it does some nasty work. It is unfortunate they reduced the speed, but that doesnt stop me from causing a lot of trouble. Mind you, most of my opponents are Master and Champ leagues with high level stuff, and my Faf is 3.1 sporting maxed premium mods (Repair Amp, Nuke Amp, and Anti Control, or RA and two Nuke Amps), and I have a maxed Northlight mothership for excellent repair and shield stacking.

That is some EXCELLENT information there. Thank you for the tips, I really appreciate it.

It depends on who you ask. There was a time where everyone though it was worthless, but now that people are running it again, the consensus is shifting to that the nerf was bad, but not catastrophic to the bot. It is best played as midrange or an ambusher (it honestly can do both at once, midrange with equipped weapons and ambush with the powerful built-in weapon). As mentioned, the shieldbreaker pilot is a no-brainer with all the shields around these days, as it lets you incinerate Typhon/Erebus and generally ignore Northlight and drone shields.

Good info for the most part, but I would nix the aegis part. Absorber takes priority over Aegis, so the absorber should charge even if you have a mothership aegis. It’s actually a good idea to fly up when you have an aegis, as it will offer you some protection to make an escape when your absorber goes down.

I heard otherwise, that is why I mentioned that bit and use the tactic personally, but you should check with the peeps in official discord and let me know. If what you say is correct, that is great news. Mind you we are talking specifically of the lift off Absorber, not drone chip Absorber. Thx
