The UK government has decided video game loot boxes will not be regulated under betting laws, despite it finding a link between them and gambling harms.
In a long-awaited call for evidence, it instead told the video game industry to take action to protect young people.
It says it will step in if firms do not act, and also wants loot box purchases to be restricted to adults, unless approved by a parent or guardian. www.bbc.com/news/technology-62177616What is a loot box? Bronze, silver, and gold chests. The token chests from events. How Putonic will react to this, we'll have to wait and see. They've already tried to address this: Video game publishers have been told they must bring in "sufficient measures" to govern player safety, such as protecting vulnerable adults and fully disclosing the odds of getting certain items from loot boxes.but the information is hard to find/weak attempt.

Have always wondered about those who rightly publish the various odds of the loot prizes. I would like to think some independent company goes and tests this out, or examines the coding formally. But then my conspiracy mind goes into overdrive - say a random company called Onicpix sets up ready for the audit, passes, then just slips the odds back to extra rubbish. I am sure such honest companies like this made up company would not even try this underhand shizzle.

I applaud those who try to put out numbers on the loot boxes but sometimes Pix's system defies reality. Example: Last event:I wanted gizmo/pilot "X" I didn't see it AT ALL until I got to the mandated "well you spun the required 250 times so here you go." This event: Lord Adrian didn't see Trixie AT ALL until he reached the 90 spin plateau or whatever number it was, and then he got Trixie. I got TWO Trixies in the same 10 box spin long before I hit the mandatory Trixie limit. I got ONE Freedom Skyros before I hit the Skyros limit. I wish I could figure Pix out. Fat chance.

They probably just manipulate drops based on Sales. Hence why these laws come into place. They do enough shady tweaking as is (eg messing around with stats in Skirmish to push an item).
