Good deal?
Bad deal?
Not crazy about my last 2 purchases (Tengu/Zephur), and I know the Stalker will not do lightning rod」 until you buy the Upgrade kit or two, which is another $20-25.

I got my Stalker to R5 and still haven't really used it. It's a powerful mech once it's all decked out but it takes a while. It's one of those "investment" mech where you get it and spend a ton of time and resources on it and suddenly, one day, it pays back.

My Stalker is at Rank 4 but I’ll upgrade it more with this event.
I like it. The Stalker is great with disc launchers. It is squishy till you get it ranked higher, but I’ve learned when to expose myself and when to take risks. Jav8s and Gauss Rifles have been fun on it too and I’m considering going to the dark side with mortars.
Like KB says, it’s one of those mechs you can take your time upgrading like an investment if you want. To me it’s been worth it.

Haven't gotten beyond level 4, but I've managed to complete all the individual bot tasks. JR's rock with it.

Good deal. Stalker is definitely an endgame mech for tourney and excels with the three strongest weapon combos: Rocket Mortars, ArcTorrents and Disc Launchers. I've lost to opponents who've used it to great effect against me with each. I suspect that against humans it probably is best as secondary backup mech (or maybe a shorter life first drop mech to quickly take the lead in kills) when it comes to RM12s (Killshot has better maneuverability) and Disc Launchers (Panthers can equip the heavier DL16). On ArcTorrents it might be the best overall, though Ares' shield offers better protection. Either way it is worth getting and upgrading. I am currently focusing on some weapons but then I plan to march mine all the way from 3.7 to max, even though my Zephyr is way closer at 6.6.
Other nice advantages are that it is a rare mech so blueprints are easy to get and that it is easy to complete the Specialization Spree tasks at just the starting rank 3. At R3 it has 12EN so you can equip 2xJav6s or even better a single RM12 and it racks up the kills. HP is low at that point but ultimately it quite beefy when maxed.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to effectively run my Zephyr. I see people rack up double digit kills, and I struggle to get 2.

Are you talking about in Tournament or CPC? Generally, Zeph is an ambush artist that works best when the enemy comes to you or as a beacon defender that you wait to drop in right when they get close. You have to be a bit careful running it and in figuring out when in the match to drop it in. Also it's good to try and hit your opponents' backside as much as possible for damage amplification. AI especially tends to turn around so wait to freeze them once they do it or circle around after they are frozen, without leaving yourself too exposed once the freeze wears off.

It took 2,825 A-Coins to do it. I’ve been offered the 7.99 upgrade pack, but I think I might skip it. I’ve become proficient at using it and don’t see a reason to spend it upgrade it.
