Hi everyone, Daniela1 here. Sorry for my inactivity for the past few weeks, I have a lot of irl stuff in my hands during that time. But now I'm back to bring some info regarding Pixonic's latest iteration of their "flying menace" formula. The Seraph.
- Basic core stats:
Seraph has a decently large amount of HP for this type of robot, clocking in at 143500 HP at level 8. For comparison, Hawk at the same level has 114030 HP, and a Siren has 120000 HP. However, Seraph is also slower than both of those robots, with a maximum base speed of 40kph. (Hawk and Siren has 44kph and 49kph speed respectively.) Even though Seraph has more HP, it's slower ground speed might make it harder for it to take cover when it's vulnerable without its ability. As for mounted hardpoints, the Seraph has 2 heavy hardpoints. It is weaker than Hawk's 2 heavy and 2 light hardpoints, with roughly 30% less firepower with just the mounted weapons. Hawk also has the option to have an Ecu shield.
The slower speed, less firepower, and the lack of an Ecu shield option makes the Seraph even more reliant on its ability to survive than Hawk. So how good is Seraph's ability? Much like Pixonic's other "flying menaces," Seraph's ability can be separated into two distinct functions. An in-flight protection system, and a built-in weapon. It also has a longer flight time than all other flying robots (barring Fafnir which can fly forever), 10 seconds. And a decent cooldown time at 17 seconds.
- In-flight protection system
The Seraph has an all new protection system, called a Forcefield. Seraph's Forcefield activates immediately at take off, however it does not protect Seraph at landing. Aside from that, this protection system is quite unremarkable when compared to Reflector, or Absorber. Initially, Forcefield provides a strong protection towards incoming damage. However, as Forcefield receives more damage, it's protection strength becomes weaker, allowing more damage to pass through. The protection strength of Seraph's Forcefield can be seen on its wings. At take off, Seraph's wings glows blue, but as it takes more damage and Forcefield becomes less resistant to damage, Seraph's wings will instead glow red. When piloting Seraph, it is important to gauge how much damage the Forcefield system can block, and adjust your strategy accordingly. Heavy robots and Titans with precision weapons can quickly overwhelm this defense system if you're not careful. And unlike Reflector or Absorber, there are no repercussions of shooting at a flying Seraph. This shield also does not block status effects. DoT and Blast effect will still deal full damage to a flying Seraph. (Note: I'm not quite sure how much damage Forcefield blocks at its weakest. More testing needed.)
- Built-in weapon
The built in weapon is what makes this robot truly powerful. It is an extraordinarily strong yet easy to use weapon, with a strong DPS and "clip" damage, 500m range, a 50% bonus against Titans, and the capability to hit multiple targets at once. At level 8 it has a DPS of 22545, which is barely less than two level 8 Embers at perfect accuracy (24561.) In many cases your built-in weapon will be stronger than your mounted weapons, even just against a single target. And yet, the built in weapon can hit two or possibly more robots at once with no loss in single target DPS. Making Seraph extraordinarily powerful to fight against multiple robots in a highly contested beacon. However, against Titans, Hawk's laser beam is still more powerful, thanks to its ability to bypass resistance. But even so, Seraph might still outclass a Hawk in vs Titan damage, depending on what weapons you have equipped as it's still usable in flight.
Advantages:
- Excellent crowd control capability, thanks to its ability to damage multiple robots at once.
- High damage output, even against a single target.
- Very effective at taking down Titans, possibly being equally as good as Hawk.
- 10 second flight time with take off protection.
Disadvantages:
- There are no repercussions for shooting at a flying Seraph. An overwhelming amount of firepower can still kill a Seraph mid flight as its Forcefield becomes weaker the more its being shot.
- Very vulnerable on the ground.
- Can be Blinded mid-flight which disables its weapons completely.
- DoT, Blast, and other crippling status effects is still effective against a flying Seraph.
Possible weapon combos:
Decay: Mid-range energy weapons with great damage and 600m range. This is probably what Pixonic intended to be Seraph's recommended weapon.
Puncher: 500m range, big burst damage, and Lockdown capability. Versatile and effective at any range within its reach, especially against Titans.
Hammer: More of a short range build, which isn't really Seraph's optimal range. BIG burst damage at short range. With Sharpshooter it can be almost as accurate as Puncher at long range.
Smuta: Doesn't pack as much punch as the other builds but still good thanks to its homing capabilities. Easy as hell to use.
Viper: Seraph's long flight time facilitates the use of sustained fire, long unload time weapons. Viper is quite effective to take down Titans from a safe range thanks to its corrosion effect.
Avenger: Seraph's long flight time gives Avenger the means to deal sustained damage to a target for an extended period of time while remaining somewhat unharmed. Can be quite effective. Sharpshooter recommended.
Avalanche: Mid-range rocket launchers with a 500m range. These weapons have HUGE splash radius, which might help to bolster Seraph's crowd control ability and breaking physical shields.
