I have been playing for about 5 weeks now and that suggested Hanger is exactly what I have! Sweet! Nice to know I'm on track! Just bought a carnage then plan is (still rough) uprade carnage (Already bought) - Save for Tridents and Fifth Slot. Then Zeus's. Then I want to try a Galahad. Excellent plan! Galahad is really a great robot. Zeus Carnage is a monster on some maps, I just scored top damage with an (underlevelled) level 7 Zeus Carnage on Yama, racking up 450k damage in 6 minutes (then the game ended). Both will give your hangar a big boost. I'd still recommend getting the Galahad first (after the 5th slot), but that depends a bit on your playing style. If you like knife fighting and beacon grabbing, go for the Galahad. If you prefer to keep your distance, get the Zeus. Strayeds guide has Zeus pretty far down the list, but I think they deserve a much higher spot. (The low spot may be due to the percieved damage bug. But either I learned how to use Zeus at some point, or the bug was fixed, but now I haven't experienced the bug for a long time. The few cases where Zeus didn't do the damage I expected came from lag.) Zeus should be above Fury, Lance and Aphids, IMO, and way over Gary. Thanks! Yeah I've seen them both in action and just want them. I took my carnage for a roll at level 5 with level 6 thunders (My hanger is all 6 - 9 now) and had a hell of a lot of fun! It's back on ice now though awaiting it's Tridents then Zues's after 5th slot. After Tridents will spend WSP on a new set of Tarans / Mags to go on the RBG Griffin to be leveled for an eventual pair of plasmahads... maybe. lol Oh and then another set of Orkans (This missile is smile ).... perhaps. Thanks for your tips. Very much appreciated. Freaking love this game.

I am a casual player and have not been able to understand how to accumulate au. I see other players in the forum with large quanties of gold. The beginner info that I read was of some help. Can someone please offer some suggestion? Old retiree 69. Thank you.

Play the games, get most beacon caps and damage in each match, win the match for 10au (if you get first place and most beacons), do the daily tasks for 30-40au each

I am a casual player and have not been able to understand how to accumulate au. The most simple way to collect gold is to do the daily tasks. You get 2 new tasks every day until you have up to 5 tasks. If you complete a task, you are rewarded with 30 gold, sometimes 40 gold for more difficult tasks.
After a match, some players of the winning team get some gold: -the player who did the most damage gets 5 gold -the player who did second most damage gets 3 gold -the player who did third most damage gets 1 gold -the player who captured most beacons gets 5 gold (if two players are equal, only one of them gets the gold. To determine who that is, there are more criteria, like who captured first, taking over a hostile beacon counts more than taking a white one, etc.)

Great advice this!! My winning ratio just went up from 40% to 56% which Im pretty pleased about. Now, I have about 1300 Au and confused as to whether to spend on a Gareth, or get a Lancelot next or buy some more Orkans. Any advice on the next step? Buy another Orkan, 2x Magnums, do this and save for the 5th slot after.

I dont quite recomend the Gareth since you wont use him forever, so its basically 1250Au for a temporary investment wich is not good. Go for the 5th slot and after that for 2 more Orkans or a Galahad, its your call.

Some big discussions here. I second the idea of buying a Gareth. This will help you getting gold, so a good part of that Gareth will already have been self-financed at the point you will reach slot #5.
And the argument it is a long-term investment is really wrong on so many levels. First, let's be honest, how many of us will ever reach TT ? Most of us will never touch that level. Second, if you really look at TT, you actually see some Gareths. Sure, they are fairly rare because heaviers robots rule at TT (Galahad, Lancelot...), but running a Gareth is still very possible and several TT players are actually doing exactly that.
Bottom line, you get a Gareth, then you accumulate gold, and then you can decide which way to go (slot #5, Galy, etc.)

Bottom line, you get a Gareth, then you accumulate gold, and then you can decide which way to go (slot #5, Galy, etc.) A Gareth is a gold investment which gets you on average 5 gold per winning match. As the MM goes, you will be around a 50% which is 1 win - 1 lose. So say you get 5 gold every match for beacons. That's 250 winning games right there which translates over to ~500 games win or lose. So. Don't buy a Gareth before your 5th slot.

Well depending how you play, one could argue it can easily take 1'000 games to unlock slot #5. Case in point, most players under 500 victories don't have slot #5 yet.
So using your own calculation, it means the Gareth will have already paid for itself (or at least, a good part of it) when you will arrive to slot #5. And that is only the beginning as it will stay a key piece of your hangar way after slot #5.
Plus you forget the user experience here. Having a Gareth is a major advantage, which can help players not to give up on the game. And I talk by experience, as I saw exactly textbook examples in my entourage of that situation. One guy around me decided to follow the "wise advice" slot before bots. He struggled, getting crushed by... britbots. He ended up stopping the game exactly for that reason.
I'm not sure why you don't like the Gareth. It is a killer bot, and a major acquisition, especially early in the game thanks to its cheap price.

In the best case you get your Gareth even by buying it then playing for that gold again. Also, you are on iOS, there are no Gareth's on Android's TT though. I also do agree with your statement on how many of us will ever reach TT, but at least I give the tips I find most straightforward to achieving a competitive-style hangar. I'm 1000 league points away from Champion league, I do have a Gareth and he is not in my active hangar anymore, I bought him completely knowing that I would not use him till the end since he is a very fun bot to play, so yes, we must not forget that we need to have fun playing, but at least for me I have alot more fun when I do win lol.

Buying Gareth or not is personal preference(it will help you win more beacon rewards). Just advice you should concentrate upgrade your PDB and DB Griffin, they are more popular bots in higher league. The RBD Griffin and Thunder/Piñata Leo should be replaced next. The next purchase may be 5th slot, Taran/Magnum Galahad or Zeus/Trident Carnage. If you want current best mid range, go for Trident or Zeus Fury.

I'm 1000 league points away from Champion league, I do have a Gareth and he is not in my active hangar anymore... maybe you just forgot, this thread was a newbie question, he is lightyears away from Champions league. You shouldn´t transfer your personal situation onto him. For him the Gareth can be much more useful than it can be for you. I am in silver league (android) and I see a lot of Garys there, I also own one and use him quite often and very successful. I agree that Gary can payback the gold soon.
...he is a very fun bot to play, so yes, we must not forget that we need to have fun playing... That´s a good point!

inesb I'm not transfering my personal situation to him, if I where in his situation I would never get the Gareth as well. And also you are right, by being so ahead in experience I should give people good advices and not make them waste their gold wich is so hard to get. I'm also not saying the Gareth is not worth, I'm just saying that he is not good as an Orkan in the long run. Gary earlier and then an Orkan later will be 2450 gold wich could have been 2 Orkans for a full time investment.

I might be the pariah of the bunch, here .. but I say, Boom-sticks. Just fitting my Mecha with a good load out has dramatically increased my battlefield performance.
Also, if the necessary changes are made to the new Mecha, the Garath's days could be numbered ..

I don't understand (PDB and RBD Griffin) means. Could some tell what they mean? Thanks 69 yr old newbie PDB = Plasma Death Button (tarans and magnums) RDB = Ranged/Russian Death Button (tulumbas and pins) Also, the last post in the thread was from two weeks ago. In the future, try to search for the answer to a question you have and if you're unable to have it sufficiently answered, try to bump a more recent thread if not start a new one.
