I'm huge into stand-up comedy and comedy podcasts. I follow comics like a lot of people follow sports teams and individual athletes. Before the world started to burn, I'd worked up the nerve to get on stage and do three minutes several times. At a couple points, I've had the wild and crazy idea to take a shot at being a professional.
I like to laugh, to make people laugh, and talk about fun and silly stuff. I generally favor the offensive and dirty stuff, but really enjoyed the last Netflix special by Ellen Degeneres of all people. I believe that there's nothing that can't be laughed at. I firmly believe in and will defend the late Patrice O'Neal when he said, 'It all comes from the same place.'
Wanna be funny? Wanna talk comedy? Wanna recommendation on something to watch or listen to? I'll do it all, dude.

Laughter is an elixir of life sir. I agree wholeheartedly, dude. You heard of a guy named Shane Gillis? Or a Mark Normand? Both have killer specials on YouTube and are still fairly unknown. Dirty stuff, but hysterical.

Yes! My friend I’ve known since he was born loves to do standup. Has done it too. And it’s not coming from a place of ego, he just literally enjoys having fun and making fun of everybody at the same time. When he gets on a good tangent everyone stops talking and is listening and laughing to him and it literally lifts the spirits of the entire room it’s unbelievable. There’s something with laughter that creates the chemical reaction in the body that can lift anybody’s spirit at any time no matter what. I remember years and years ago I went and saw Norm MacDonald and Bob Saget open for a comedy troupe of female comics in LA and they tore the roof off the place every single one of them . Granted everyone knew Bob Saget from his TV show, but that guy was a riot. And then of course the women took the stage and you think OK here comes something different. Holy cow, these women were so nasty and hilarious that the place was in stitches all night long. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen

You'll love them.

I tried to paste this as just the text, so if the obscenity title comes through, feel free to delete. I’m sure you’ve seen it, but one of the better built stand up skits. Lots of research, writing and editing went into this simple word play.
I love Dylan Moran as well. Fun thread Doc!

Each as funny as the last.

Nice post. Thanks. Im a rather serious person in my day to day. However i like comedy a great deal. Very few taboo topics as im a very big believer in free speech and independent thought. Been blasting netflix lately and will always remember every word of my first full comedy special. Eddie murphy delirious. I got kicked out of school for doing the welfare routine.... how was i to know... So many good ones. George carlin was another fave. Always game for some good funnies.
Cheers!
