And here I was humming Stranger in a Strange Land by Iron Maiden when I read "Land of Ice and Snow"... funny how everyone reads it differently.

Yes, the Iron Maiden song was based on the Heinlein book. They do that a lot. Murder in the Rue Morgue, Rime of the ancient mariner, To Tame a land, etc, etc
