A 12 en weapon like MR12 or CB12 and the SB8? Basically the SB8 used to slow and freeze whilst the other weapon does the heavy damage. Some experimentation could be fun. Which is why I want it. 😀

The 8/12/16 EN slots for Stasis mean it is now possible to run 3 medium mechs with full Stasis. 2x mechs with Stasis 16+8, 1 with 2x stasis 12. This on tanks is something I want to do, because if I'm not playing as obnoxiously as possible, I'm not having fun. It beats out Stasis 16+TL6 in solo play, because there is no guarantee the AI will shoot overheated targets, AND, compromising enemy positions and advance rate is pretty important.

IDK, I got mine too and I'm gonna let it gather dust. For me, sustained damage weapons need to be used on mechs that have a damage nullifier like the Panther or damage reducer like the Jugg and Ares. My Panther is maxed but my Jugg and Ares are far down the usage list.

Not sure I can change your mind… That said, I will get mine to 6 *. My light mechs need to chill every now and then, too. TBQH, I consider this a project of experimentation more than necessity. I can easily see MD ending up with them once it is maxed. Will try them on Shadow for now since it is already at 16 EN, for Ss and Gs… but not very confident of it’s actual utility in solo play. Seems a waste of a good surprise damage dealer… MR 8s and LA 10s and Arc 10+ 6 are all REALLY good on the little dude… not sure I want to take what fun it has away from it. But back to the SB 8… MD can be more sustained and is already geared towards support, so it feels like a natural fit. Even in Solo play. I have found that even in solo tourney, keeping Blues alive is VERY helpful in many games and can make the difference when the human Red on the other side is focusing on killing AI. But, I see squad play the real goal for it. Healing and freezing, consistently, will be a good fit for CPC and longer TDM maps… IMO. Cheetah can probably make good use of it with smart mine play… even in CQB… freezing slows turret speed too… so a good Cheetah pilot can get in there, freeze them, then drop mines in prime spots and get the hell out. Lancer… not feeling it. I like Redfiend ’s suggestion for getting Medium EN Mechs to a dual freeze level… would be a right PITA, especially on maxed, or near maxed, tanks. They can be a persistent PITA with that build.

They can be a persistent PITA with that build. All game modes are about area coverage. Stasis has the highest optimal range of all sustained fire weapons. Stopping the enemy from getting into cover, just because they made the dire mistake of peeking out of cover, wins games. The high magazine capacity and auto-reload means you can be really, REALLY aggressive at all ranges and angles. Unlike thermal lance, which has low damage because of overheat, the penalty to DPS for Stasis is lower, and the statis effect actively helps you secure kills. The reason people don't like sustained fire, is because they have the wrong mentality. Sustained weapons aren't about trying to get all of the kills. They're about putting in the damage and making the enemy move. If they miss, or are caught empty, they're dead. Focus on shooting whatever you can, whenever you can, at whatever distance you can, and you'll see a big difference in match flow. Burst weapons leave magic pixels worth of health, and take forever to reload. They can retreat, or perish, hence "assault" weapons.
