Just unlocked Redox and lo and behold, I get an offer to purchase at full price of $65. Obviously, I didnt go for it but now it is flashing me a deal for $32.
Thinking if he is worth it for the 5th slot. I rarely play CPC aside from getting achievements/objectives. And nowadays, looks more like exclusively playing for tournies.
I haven't really payed much attention to the map names but so far AFAIK he can only be fully utilized in - the one with the tunnel in the middle - the one with the basement with 4 access points - High Bridge - the one with the 'fight pit" in the middle (Fortune Towers?)
I'm getting around 1,800 A-coins per tournament so theoretically I could just save for it but then that will pretty much bottle neck the rest of my upgrades. Plus getting a "great" deal for something you really need is pretty hard to come by chance. (blueprints mostly)
Is he a good investment to grind tournaments?

Still upgrading mine so cannot tell from 1st hand experience, but those with maxed out Redox often get top scores in tournament on smaller maps.

Mines at 6.1. Truth be told I haven't fully come to grips with it yet, but it's starting to show it's worth in tournament matches.
Definitely an ambush bot, so I've gone for burst weapons; RG and CB12. Would love dual RGs. It shines if you can find a hiding place and hit several reds with the ability.
Time will tell if I keep it in or go back to the Ares.

Quick thoughts:
As much as I like Redox and have come to regard it as a worthy mech, I still haven’t had it in my hangar for a week or two due to recently maxing Shadow. IOW, it is expendable, in my opinion.
That said… There are definitely options for your 5th that can enhance or detract from your Tourney experience, with Redox leaning more towards Enhance, overall. You may find yourself wanting to regularly rotate other mechs in and out of that slot, depending on the map. Redox is definitely a strong contender for close, compact maps… as well as maps that have positions that allow your ability to reach good chokepoints while the mech itself is in cover. But it takes really learning its strengths and weaknesses to get the most out of it. Definitely need to not make an impression from the first few games.
As far as how well it will help you, in particular, grind… would need to know what your other 4 mechs are, as well as what your other 5th slot options are.

Yeah, I'm wondering about this deal too. Would be the single largest purchase I've made on this game but Redox has definitely been on my list and this deal converts to 250 AC per dollar, which is pretty darn good. Feel like normally they advertise it at $47 or so.

Redox may be a perfect addition to your hangar, but it’s one of those I cannot call a “must have” due to it definitely needing patience, skill, and experience to run effectively. I like the mech, so I took the time to figure out where and how I like to use it for the maps it seems to thrive on. If you don’t like it, those may be harder things to work out. It is definitely the better of the “new” mechs. It’s slow and still pretty fragile… I can’t stress those two weaknesses enough… but I still like it and will keep it in rotation.

I'm already leaning against. I want to get a Redox just not right this second. Same as when they had the really good Cheetah offer post-buff. Either I abandon my existing upgrade plans or it just sits in the hangar collecting virtual dust til I finally can get to it. Getting blasted by maxed versions in tourney though definitely made it tempting. Good to get reminded of the fuller picture.

IMO, I'd rather just wait at this point to see how the Stalker is gonna be. I'd love to get the Stalker and slap the JR6 on it and basically be a near immortal sucker puncher.

I did revisit your own Redox thread to get more info as well as the poll I made a few weeks back on the Top 5 mechs. Still couldnt decide. Pardon the load out, trying out achievements when tournaments not available. RG16x2 DL12 CB12 CB10 Arc10 MR8s SB16 LA10, LA8 Usual rotation goes like KS > depending on Reds Panther / Zephyr > Guardian. I rarely get to use more than 3 mechs in a match unless we're getting massacred by squads. I've seen maxed Red Redox take more than 25 kills in a match he lost. I only got 12 with KS. This made me think that in certain maps, Redox will net me better scores ergo better tournament experience. Current line of thinking is that it will help me farm tournaments now and I will make my virtual money back easier later.

Yeah, I was considering the two new mechs too. I'd have to level up my Javs. Haven't touched those babies for a loooooong time.
