That’s hard to answer on its own, as kinetic and energy weapons have differences that are far greater and more important than the damage type they deal. If I had to compare kinetic vs energy damage in isolation though, I’d say the two are equivalent in lower leagues because of ancile vs physical shields, but in higher leagues, I’d actually argue kinetic is better than energy because ageis shields vs physical shields removes the advantage of energy damage.

This is a small part of it, as the value of anything in game or in real life is 100% dependent upon the value system of consumers and customers. Another big consideration, as 079 mentioned, is level of league/content in relation to the content. Some content is very good at 1.9, until the league level reaches high expert and above. What works in Diamond does little in Masters. I am Expert1, and Shells and Orochis are everywhere I turn. Machine guns deal 2x damage to physical shields, and at my level Machine guns do a good job against Shells, so I place value there. I also place value on quantum radar due to the Orochi population where I play. Other variables are Tasar is good, but freeze ray hits 100% at range, tasar needs close range to be strong. So, the same category of weapon has different weapons with differing characteristics. All in all, I see BFS(blast from space) and high level drone/chips doing a lot more to game play than a given few bots or weapons. Even the new Titans need a lot of help, but when Titans came out they were horrible to deal with. Good question for thinkers, OP, for sure!

Due to Shells and Revenants I had a perception that physical shields were more prevalent then energy. Is this true ?

Due to Shells and Revenants I had a perception that physical shields were more prevalent then energy. Is this true ? I’d say the two shields are roughly equal in higher leagues. Shell and Revenant are common physical shield bots, while Typhon, Erebus, and drones are common aegis shield sources. I do not know about lower leagues.

No. Shells and Revenants, and Arthur, at present, are the current physical shields bots that matter. Almost all bots with drones and motherships have energy shields. The physical shields put pressure on players to have counters for all possibilities, which usually ends up needing spending to achieve….but, patience means little to no spending.

Energy weapons are pinpoint lazer guns. Very accurate, very fast. Some bots have tiny body so need accurate. Fast moving bots need fast weapons.
Kinetic bullets are slower and spread varies widely.
Energy shots go through energy shields. Physical bullets hurt double physical shields.
There’s way more to this. The meta, flames, aegis and each weapon is unique.
Any weapon will be good at killing something.

@terminator2021 Although the little sayings that pop up bottom screen says ‘energy shields do not block energy weapons’, Pixonic needs to update the wording as it is outdated. The “Energy shields” that mechanic refers to is exclusively the blue Ancile type.
We can still hit targets with Reflector, but all weapon types can, because it isn’t a proper “shield”. It reduces and redirects a portion of incoming fire, having a similar mechanic as the Leech Repulse.
The other two “energy shields” are Aegis and Absorber and energy weapons cannot penetrate these.

The tip is still true in most cases, but now that Typhon exists, there are exceptions worth noting.

For leagues Master and Champ, I’m going to say definitely Energy as this type is the most prevalent meta. Meta does not merely mean the most used, but also the most effective in a current combat situation.
So as far as your question is concerned, flames are incredibly efficient against tanks, and quick-strike Pulsar and especially arcs (Hel type) are the top choice to deal with Fafnirs and Orochis
Wasps (kinetic) are also quick-strike efficient, but not used as much as the others mentioned.
And other than the titan machine guns, all the other kinetic weapons are rarely seen.

Thank you. I was considering which type of weapon to level and put resources in.
