In the previous DSC event, I spent some money on 2000 tokens for the 200 chest for $5 offer, and among other prizes, I got the guaranteed Sharanga and two Strikers. Later, in a stroke of luck, I won a third Striker on my first spin of the current event’s 200 token chest. So the path forward was clear: Striker Sharanga! Before investing, I decided to run the build completely unleveled:
We all have seen videos of leveled/maxed Striker Sharangas blasting everything in sight, but I was curious how it at stock level would perform. To my surprise, it actually is actually pretty good, even up in my league, Master III, where leveled meta bots and titans are common. An unleveled Striker does 17.8 k damage per shot, so 53.4 k damage per volley and 66.75 k damage when the Full Power ability (unleveled it gives +25% damage) with a 7 second recharge. I put this in my large map TDM hangar deck where it is able to carry me to top damage and sometimes kills, and lately I have been using it a bit in beacon modes on large maps with similar but lessened success.
The biggest strength of this build, other than its damage, is the combination of manual aim and instantly hitting targets, meaning I can easily snipe flying Fafnirs, Lokis/Orochis when they are not in stealth, and bots stepping out of cover without a lock on deplay. Obviously this build cannot brawl nor push beacons, but its ability to control choke points and defend territory by picking off advancing reds is amazing. Because Strikers do not have much defense mitigation, this build does struggle with tanks and titans, so its best used on other bots, but the raw damage means this build can do more than just tickle them. This build will be fun to level when I get to it, as it already impresses me.
I should mention I run mostly 1.9 bots with 1.8 weapons and unleveled titans, so perhaps I am overstating this build because I am more easily impressed than if I had better gear. But enough of me talking, I actually recorded a battle of this build in action so you guys can see it and judge it yourselves. I have ran this build for about a month now, and I can say this is an average game. I’ve had both better and worse. This build is obviously not for everyone, but as a player who likes range I am all over this!
