After playing solidly for 3 1/2 years it’s time for me to fold my tent and walk into the night.
I’ve enjoyed playing, and I still do enjoy playing the game. Some of the new features such as drones and motherships aren’t too my tastes, but they’re not game breaking for me. I get that as a mostly F2P player I’ll be krill to be fed to the whales, and again that doesn’t bother me.
So why am I quitting? The game requires too much time now. I have better things to do than spend 10 to 15 minutes a day watching ads to get resources. To keep up with the advances in the game (new weapons, new technology, upgrading new items) by my reckoning you need to be playing for at least an hour a day. You also need to devote time to hanger maintenance, upgrade schedules, workshops, drone hangers which is needed on top of the time watching ads and actually playing the game.
I just don’t have the time to devote to this game. It used to be that I could play 3 or 4 half hour sessions a week plus 10 minutes a day watching ads and keep myself in low champs fairly comfortably. I recently won a Sharanga from a chest, and instead of feeling excited and rewarded, all I could think of was how long it was going to take to grind the Pt to get it into combat worthiness. That’s when I realized it was time for me to call it quits.
I don’t regret the money I’ve spent on the game. I’ve had a great time playing the game. The game has evolved to the point where casual play just isn’t viable and you need to devote either a lot of time or a lot of cash on the game, neither of which I’m in a position to do.

Agree with your sentiments.
I don't know how far I am away from making that decision but I tell you that the current state of the game just makes me want to play less and less. Throw in the absurd pilot for the Fafnir that I'm starting to see a lot of now and the "fun" just gets sucked out of any sort of gameplay.
I'm running pretty much an FU hangar with lots of mid/long range stuff just to troll and annoy the latest meta gear and that's where I'm finding my fun for the moment.
Good luck with your future game endevours and peace out!

I get it. But there is a way to find the fun again. You can always chuck a CarlosDanger and go full L1-Loco and drop to diamond. Things aren't as hectic with power gap. You can then be more casual and not concern yourself with the resource part of the game and just play for the fun part of bot v bot. Get out them nasty legacy bots and bring it back to the basics.

New heavy weapon that does more damage at 800M than 100M and melts a Hawk in 1/2 second did me in.

There is just so much things you need to do in the game just to play how and where you want to play. The game is no longer an ideal mobile game. A game on bus ride to work, a game during break, a game before bed is not enough any more.

vonpaulus Good luck to you. I think you will find that you have all this extra mental energy and time when you get off this game. I’ve been there.

Been thinking the same thing myself. The time spent in game is crazy. War robots is a lifestyle, not a “game”. For me, I just take mini breaks. Keeps the brain strain down. Pix actually did me a favor with not reinstating my Bully account. Maintaining two accounts was getting to be tedious. So now, just the one.
Good luck commander.

But it always pains me when players talk about NEEDING to do something. You don't NEED to do anything in this game. I don't use drones, at all. My league standing hasn't changed. I don't use the MS & my pilots are frozen in time and any new one I get gets their free skill and that's it. Pix's greatest success / tragedy in this game is convincing people that being in Champions has value and means something and you should strive to make it there and maintain (maintain!) at all costs. Champs get their cups reset every month because otherwise the feel-bads would be catastrophic as people 'lost' thousands of cups when they couldn't tread water any more. No such luck down below! Nope, you keep those cups! And God help you if you backslide! Your clan leader will get all up in your 「bum-bum」 about it! And so, boom, eventually it's a job and not a game and you wake up and wonder why the hell you're going through this. Sorry. I'm not really aiming any of this at you. It sucks that we're losing yet another forumite and great player, largely due to Pix's policies, and not because of the game underneath.

vonpaulus : By all means go find your joy, but, like the others have said you could dabble with an Eff Ewe hangar. Run one of those Zenit/Noricum Hawks for the ol' bait and switch! Please don't feel the need to quit the forum, you are certainly welcome.

I haven't even logged in since last Friday and before that was one or two games a day at most.
I have lost all desire to play, the frustration and time is crazy with no feelings of reward.
Winning and losing is 99% matchmaker. Money buys 1st place win or lose.
Friday out of habit I logged in and watched one free add and said wow this is such a waste of time.
I am pretty sure I am done and honestly do not miss the aggravation and feel much more relaxed overall.
Happy trails bud, its been a fun ride while it lasted.

Now its too much of a pain, I have to set aside time and a quick single match is a thing of the past. Open up the game spend 10 minutes plus watching adds. Wait two minutes for a game that last two minutes with one side raping the other. Etc etc. This used to be a great fun game to just play one when the opportunity presented, it doesn't feel that way to me anymore.

Just because you can’t put in the time to get all the new gear and grind all the new tasks doesn’t mean you need to just quit the game completely vonpaulus. But, it is ultimately your choice. If a more casual approach to the game doesn’t interest you then no shame in leaving. The game really has become demanding to an unfortunate degree…

The game really has become demanding to an unfortunate degree… The reason I started playing War Robots instead of other online games was that it didn’t require any grinding. You played your games, watched a few ads if you wanted to and that was sufficient. It’s got the point where it feels like grinding : - grinding for events - grinding for Ag - grinding for Pt - grinding for coins. - grinding for ads. I have enough going on in my life to not want to waste time grinding in my entertainment time. I want my entertainment time to be entertaining, not work. For this game to be entertaining for me (i.e. playing at a reasonably high level against skilled players) I now need to grind, which makes it not entertaining. It’s at the point where all the cool new stuff makes the game unplayable for all but the most dedicated players. What will happen is either (a) they blow it all up and start from the basics again, which you see in games like D&D, Warhammer, Magic the Gathering; or (b) the game dies out under the weight if all the new additions. Pix have to find a way to make the game fun for casual players again.

Well, there you go. I was just making suggestions on how to change your approach (i.e. just play battles when you feel like it). It has been well-documented on this forum that players that chase the meta without spending always get burned out eventually. Thus, it is frequently advised to forget climbing the ranks, settle where the game puts you, and have fun there. But all that means nothing if it does not fit your definition of entertainment. Hopefully you find another game that does, and good luck!

Just look at the poll for which period was the most liked. Almost unanimous. Problem is. This is a business. How can they monetize it? It has to turn some sort of profit to make sense to do. We all can hope. Or just play six pak if they don’t.

I use level 1 bot and weapons, no other gimmicks, and land in whatever league I land in. I have to admit though, I used a high hangar for a few drops to finish today’s challenge. I didn’t have enough level 1 spacetech bots.

I haven't played since early April when i deleted the game. Did not go to this forum, no Discord, nothing. Today was my day off, downloaded War Robots for the fun of it. Man the game is unrecognizable. Too many new bots, weaps, titans, MK3, MS, etc. I was pretty much maxed out before, but had difficulty doing some real dmg today in the few games I tried.
It's indeed a lifestyle this game, all-consuming, either you are in or you are out, no middle way.
Quitting War Robots might be a very good choice. Suddenly you will have a lot of time, for friends, family, work even. Enjoy it!

For me the thing I’m enjoying most about quitting is not watching ads for currency. I was only playing half an hour a day on my lunch breaks, but it was the constant logging in to watch ads and to manage hangers and equipment that made it a chore.

I went from spending to keep up to 「fluffernutter」 it and run what I want. If I get new stuff from events, so be it and not mad if I donât. At some point, you have to make a decision about what you want out this game. This is strictly fun for me. Win/lose, just a game.
