So, the new Derby is here. The skins look ok and I don't mind grinding to get the Panther skin because it's more than just colour changes. It's like a Prototype skin where they change the model itself.
But...
This new Loot Rush is gonna wipe out the tokens I'd hoarded up to now. I'd saved up 99 before today. Oh well, I don't think I will use them up. I'll just use 70 to get the 700 prize of 400 A-coins. The MD skin isn't worth going all the way in my opinion.
Can't just use them now though cause there might be other "open X loot chest" tasks in the days ahead.

Yeah, I only opened 2 loot boxes to get the 12,500 credits on the progress bar and because I had a "open 2 boxes" task for the derby. I barely want to bother getting the 400 A-Coins on the progress bar. Normally you get 800 ACoins for 500 Loot Box credits. 400AC for 700 is lame. And winning A-Coins out of the boxes just sucks now. I never hit 750 anymore and I only get a few 375s. Eh, I'm just venting but Vault Blitz used to be awesome...

I hope all those new skins aren't here to stay. I'd gotten the 5 token chest down to like 7 purple skins.
Ok, anyone try the Invite 2 friends with referral link today? It was weird. I've avoided those tasks ever since they fixed it. But, I was looking at it today and realized that to get the Proto Panther skin, you need 450 points. If you do all the tasks by day 10, you'll get 500 points, so that means you don't have to do 1 day's worth of tasks, or 50 points. I thought, what if they have more of those pesky referral tasks? So, I tried...
So, the weird thing is that my out of the box texting app for my phone is NOT my default SMS app. I use Pulse instead. So, when I hit the task, it brought up some of my frequent contacts. The first row opened up my OOTB SMS app - which of course doesn't work, so I had to close it out. I didn't think anything of it and later on noticed that my task bar had incremented by 1. So, I tried it with my Pulse app....nothing. Then, I tried it again with the OOTB SMS app and again closed it out, and poof, I completed the task.
Anyone else have similar experience?

I really wish they would have chose something other than the theme of racing. I think of battle with this game... not sports. I get it's sorta "summery" but... meh.
I will get the red Panther skin (kinda dig it), already have the KS (first chest... woot!) and will get the Pit Stop MD skin because I have a soft spot for MD and will continue running it for a while, off and on, even to the point of maxing it. But. I loathe the blue, Cars-esque, Lightning McQueen looking, dumbness.
But yes, I think you are correct, expect them to be gone once the event is over. Like the flame skins, and the Halloween skins before that. (still mad I didn't get the killer clown Panther skin from that...  ) |

Some of these tasks are brutal. Man, this past weekend was nasty. I kinda miss the all dumb AI phase of the game. I used to use TDM to farm tasks like: kill x mechs all by yourself, kill x mechs with no damage, etc... But, lately, there's been a lot of human players and it's hard getting those types of tasks against smart humans, especially when all I want to do is finish the task so I end up focusing too much on the conditions of the task. At this rate, I'll be lucky to get the 450 points required to complete the Derby.
Even trying 2v2 was hard cause I kept getting thrown into games against a squadding pair.

Some of these tasks are brutal. Man, this past weekend was nasty. I kinda miss the all dumb AI phase of the game. I used to use TDM to farm tasks like: kill x mechs all by yourself, kill x mechs with no damage, etc... But, lately, there's been a lot of human players and it's hard getting those types of tasks against smart humans, especially when all I want to do is finish the task so I end up focusing too much on the conditions of the task. At this rate, I'll be lucky to get the 450 points required to complete the Derby. Even trying 2v2 was hard cause I kept getting thrown into games against a squadding pair. I was unable to play much this weekend, but yeah, there are definitely more players.
2v2, for me, is going to take a hangar change. I need to be more aggressive, and play more absolute damage/brawl builds (sorry Redfiend , what you called it is too long  ) in that mode. For AI, I can roll with whatever... but against humans it takes a mindset that I hadn't even really fully explored. Although, I do want to go into custom and learn the better spots on the maps for the... loadouts (is that better Red?)... I will be using. |

Before the weekend, I was trying to ween myself off my cloned mechs, but I just can't. Heck, I even ranked up my Zephyr to EN20 and ran it with CB12/MR8 with some success on small maps but it was awful on big maps. Damn, maybe I should have gone the tank route after all! But, since I'm committed to the Zep now, I need to get it to EN22 as fast as possible so that I can run TL6/RG16, and then max it would probably be RG16/MR8 or LA8. Heck, at this point, I'm even considering the AT10 and do a CB12/AT10 load out.

I switch back and forth between the AT 10 + CB 10 and AT 10 + MR 8 for both my Zep and my KS. Both combos work for different reasons for me... but I really can't pick a favorite.
I think I lean more towards the MR 8 for the KS, but for the Zep, I like both. The CB 10 is more versatile and still has good burst, but the MR 8 burst is pretty damn good when paired with the AT, and I can usually guarantee to be done with killing them before they are unfrozen, where as with the CB 10 it's more in the air. Also, I have gotten pretty decent with long range MR 8 shots... so some of the versatility is there for that one, too. Like I said, hard to pick a favorite... but the CB combo is damn good.
CB 12 would not be an exception, for sure!
