This is something I’m going to be happy to get off of my chest, as this has been boiling in me for a while and needs release. In light of a discussion started by Eradicator1 and rydia on a different thread I posted, I just want to vent about this here so I do not have to be professional in General Discussion. Scorpion is the the worst robot in the game, by far. No other robot in the game, including Shell, Orochi, or Fafnir, even comes close. It would take a lot, even for Pixonic, to top this bot in terms of stupidity of design for me. My problems with it can be stated in three major points: The robot completely violates the game’s basic rules of engagement. Every robot in the game besides Scorpion works where the enemy can see it coming and prepare. Even if you are in a no-win scenario, you can still go down fighting. This bot however, can completely ignore that, bypassing cover and appearing such that the victim must turn around and re-adjust to properly engage it. Even if you see the defense icon appear and know it’s coming, there is basically nothing you can do. And if you want to avoid them, well good luck identifying them and maintaining 351+m. They will get you eventually, every time. My next point is somewhat similar to the first one, but it is that this bot single-handed makes many bots much more difficult to play. Bots that frequently use cover, like Pantheon bots, dragon bots, dash bots, stealth bots, Cerberus, and all legacy bots (so a lot of bots!) are way too weak when this thing arrives and are thus deleted with minimal risk to the Scorpion. Heck, many bots are still too vulnerable even with their ability, so they just loose by default (Pantheon bot pilots would know this too well!). And if the Scorpion goes in over its head, it just teleports away, again with minimal risk, to strike again a little later. The last point is what Scorpion represents for the future of this game. Bots like the upcoming Revanant will be this bot but even worse, and Pixonic knows how strong Scorpion’s concept is, so there are bound to be more later on. Plus it constrains the potential of future bots because they must now be designed with Scorpion in mind, which can also lead to more problems. I feel Scorpion will change the development of new bots forever. So yeah, Scorpion, the perfect mix of everything bad. It does it all: is super frustrating, damages the meta, and sets a dangerous precedent for the future of the game. In my opinion, only something truly game-shattering (since Scorpion is already game-breaking) could top this bot in how clearly short-sighted and stupid it is by design. |

I don`t think Scorpions still deserve all the bad press and aren`t anywhere near as hard to avoid/counter act/kill/are skill less/or whatever, as they used to be. It`s a lot harder to use them to the same effect as before the nerf.
If we`re talking way overpowered/indestructible/too fast/un killable/no skill required/ruining the game/whatever, it`s got to be the Shells which can run across the map in seconds and then stand there in the middle of a bunch of blues for ages and ages taking little to no damage, being un killable and killing everyone else (closely followed by all the other latest OP releases which we`re now seeing more and more maxed out examples of).
I don`t get why there hasn`t been all the hate towards Shells as there was towards Scorpions. Most of the time I feel there`s just no point in even trying to fight them (especially when it`s an S Clan squad that just spawned 6 of them), you can`t outrun them, you can`t outlast them, you can`t kill them, you can`t do them much damage at all (I know everyone will start shouting flames but it`s ridiculous that all the weapons you already have are so ineffective).
In my opinion it takes more skill now to get in range and make a kill with a Scorpion than just being able to run into the middle of a bunch of blues in an indestructible box and start easily killing them one by one without even having to think about cover, waiting for an ability recharge or anything.

I agree that the shell maxed out is waaaay worse than maxed scorps. I have three mk3 avengers on a falcon that has on more than one occasion not been able to break the front shield on one with a full clip unloaded. All three running! THAT is ridiculous. Started at 450 meters till point blank and empty. Don’t even think they rotated the shields. More than once too that has happened. Not to mention the purple shields after that. Even the Ming with maxed MGs has issues sometimes. |

079. Nice rant. Well put. I have a leveled Scorpion and don’t use it. I prefer my bots fairly straight-up, except for Phantom and it blinks back and not forward.

Truth be told, Scorpion is an ok bot….the in game feature that now rivals insta freeze lock down as most diseased and horrible for gameplay is certain bots being able to teleport. Phantom isn’t as bad, but consider the Abyss map, where everyone can teleport-that is fun! This teleport directly behind someone and having a lot of weapons, including in built, is way stupid.
I suppose, regardless of how deployed, purple shields would round out the list of Pix ideas that make the gameplay worse and worse.

Kinda apples and oranges here….my BBQ Fen eats Shells for lunch, even if they have jump mod. Devastator TFal works too, once shield is broken. Non tank bots just die fast if a leveled Scorp prison hugs them….. |

Yeah gee it takes so much skill to walk up to a wall, wait for someone to get in range, press ability button while holding down fire and walk forward, then teleport back when your target is dead or your ability duration is done. I bet someone could write an AI script to do that. Shells at least have to go to their targets and play by the rules of other bots. Scorpions just need to move to someone’s general vicinity for a kill. |

If it weren’t for Shell I might say, “Big deal.” Mine is all flames and I brawl hard with her. Take beacon, defend beacon. I prefer health over damage. Your build IS good for sneaky harassment so capitalize on that. Good hunting. Report back to us on progress/results! |

It’s not right/fair but when I notice I start taking a lot of unexpected damage, I assume it’s a Scorpion and I hit advanced heal w/defense chips. The Sonic scorpions are particularly deadly and you have to do this. Most scorpions give up pretty quickly, they don’t kill me and they don’t take my beacon. Sometimes, but not often. Now if you want me to rant, let’s talk about my disdain for a Demeters. They need a nerf. |

My style with this build is grab 1-2 quick beacons-I use jump mod-then look to steal some bacon or disrupt a group of reds by hitting ability, jump in, strafing as I fly in with jump, do what I can then go back to safety. I also like getting that home bacon quick, then just shooting at reds, or their direction, which I can do because 600m range weapons…..pretty fun bot to play! |

The biggest issue is this. Scorpions and the Demeters that follow them have made beacon runners pointless. There is no game advantage any more to getting to a center or otherwise key beacon first because all a Scorpion has to do is get within 350m and they get a free ticket to that beacon, and then the Demeter following it does the same. It's happened to me over and over, and because my Raven gets to the beacon so fast, it's not like I've got much in the way of Blue support for those first few seconds of a Scorpion attack where you can't figure out where the little 「illegitimate child」 is, and half the time it's stealthed anyway.
I still think the worst *feature* is Leech/Hawk/Minos reflecting shields, but Scorpion teleporting is right up there.

Come back with those at mk 3 (and mk 3 the bot) and then I will be impressed. That Scorpion is nothing special, I see those all the time. My Techno Scorpion is Mk3 with 2/5 sonics, Ash with max skills and a few fancy modules (although not yet levelled - so many to do and so little Ag) but it still is of limited use against all the latest OP maxed out bots of S Clan Squads.

In lower leagues scorpion deserves its bad rep. It’s not that bad once you start winning decent bots and you have a Kid that can burn it without knowing it’s there or burn a hiding scorpion after it ports back when you chase it. Wait till you encounter ridiculous MK3 Fafnirs that out shine your Titan in upper leagues.
