I’ve been lingering around this forum as a mere guest for quite some time now (probably more than a year, far too long!) and have read a lot of great threads I wish I could be a part of, but an irrational fear of bringing myself before the very clearly experienced members of this forum kept me back… until today! I know from my readings I’m going to enjoy my time and interactions here and it is nobody’s fault but I can just be a bit afraid of trying the new, but now I no longer have to miss out on the action! With that out of the way, here is some info about me and my history with War Robots: After seeing an ad for the game (don’t even remember where) I downloaded and started playing in early 2017, which I believe was about when the Wild Bunch robots were released and people were still getting used to the new league system. Like many people, I was fascinated with the simple, robust gameplay and strategy and the ability to customize an army of my own battle robots. Little did I know that I joined just in time to get my bearings before the madness this game is known for would begin. First it was great, with the more frequent balance changes, addition of the beacon rush game mode, and other stuff to keep things interesting. But then the infamous mail.ru acquisition came and the waves and waves of new, meta-changing robots and weapons we know all too well began. Though the new content was undoubtedly overpowered and part of a diabolical money-grabbing scheme, I stuck it out, motivated by the still fun gameplay and dreams of one day owning the cool stuff I saw on YouTube. Fast forward to 2021, and I have tempered my expectations, knowing that the gap between the spenders and budget/free to play will only grow and I do not have the funds to own everything, but even with that the core of the game that originally drew me in still there, and now I enjoy challenging myself to overcome and adapt to the new threats Pixonic throws at us. My lifetime spending on this game is likely around $500, possibly approaching $600, but a lot of that was during my craze in my earlier years when I did not quite see the bigger picture. Currently I spend an average of $15 of month when killer deals show up or the operation has an item I want. I also am a very active player, getting hours in a day to grind the grinds and keep the resources flowing! Well, congratulations on making it to the end of my rather long introduction! My normal posts should not be anywhere near this long, and for any mods reading this I did read up on the CoC and promise to be a good boy! I may have come off a little skittish in this post, but once I warm up to this I’ll probably be quite active. See you all on the message boards (and the battlefield)! (Hopefully I set up this post correctly, I have never been on a forum before and am not familiar with this stuff, sorry if it shows up somewhere it is not supposed to )

Welcome aboard! We definitely have an eclectic mix of personalities, here... Hell, I don't even play War Robots anymore (see the Mech Arena subforum lol) but I still check here and read almost all the daily threads, even about War Robots, at some point during the day. Been here since it was still the WIKI forum, before it moved to ProBoards, and call it home in a lot of ways. Hope you can find the info you need and can add something others can find useful during your "official" (post-lurking) stay!

Oh no am I gonna be known as the guy who lurked around here before joining now? I didn’t mean that in any bad way, but I suppose it’ll be better to embrace it than fight it

Poopface , Koalabear , Oliver Kloesov I think this calls for a special nickname in 079 ’s avatar: Maybe “No longer lurkin’” or “lurkin’ no more”? Anyway, welcome to the forums. I’m sure you have plenty of experience to back up your valued opinions. We’re all friends here.

I didn’t mean that in any bad way, but I suppose it’ll be better to embrace it than fight it If you’ve read most of the self-introduction threads, most of them start out as long-time lurker, first-time poster. So you’re in good company. It’s difficult to speak up in a crowd. Just remember your opinion means nothing…until you share it

Think I was a lurker for close to a year before becoming a member. The forum kept popping up whenever I googled a war robots question. Like “what is a good load out for griffin?” Things of that nature. So I figured might as well join em.
So welcome aboard!

There was some account (forgot what its name was but it had some anime profile picture) that actually was doing fairly well but then first claimed a Molot Leech would kill French Mings and then when that argument got shut down it then “killed” a kid with a level 3 Cerberus. Then when the account was suspected to actually be the infamous Bone Collector (who stated that his Exodus Carnage and Avenger Fury were killing Areses) and was banned the guy made a third account for some last minute rants before seemingly being shut down for good. Was quite the spectacle to witness. Now we have Onslander with the Zennit argument, but Onslander has kept cool a lot better about it so I doubt any madness will come out of it. Edit: Upon re-read you acknowledge I was there but in a diminished capacity. I stand corrected. Still though, I did not miss out. Heck, I remember when your profile picture was only a Leech and then more stuff got added as new content released.

I’d say you could remove the Leech and (maybe) Ao Ming to make room. They left their impact on this game no doubt but they’re not stupid op anymore.

Great post 079 ! Looks we started playing around the same time. I started playing when the Ancilot was considered meta and I spent $35 to pick up on "sale". That was the first time I'd spent any money on a game and I remember feeling guilty as hell for it. These days, I laugh at the "me" of that time. I remember winning a Bulgasari when the dash bots first came out, and I wasn't able to get a Haechi until it was no longer king of the battlefield. I remember saving up my Influence Points, even creating a few fake Facebook profiles just to get a few extra IP, and in the end, only had enough for a Jesse. But, damn, that bot was fun! The game has undergone so many changes that it's just not recognizable anymore. If you ever want to return to that feeling of the old "glory" days, check out our Mech Arena sub forum. The game is getting close to global launch and there's been a few controversial decisions by Plarium that has had folks talking and comparing them to Pix and talking as if MA will become War Robots one day. I don't really see that mainly because the game mechanics around acquisition means that everyone has the chance to earn the "big" mechs eventually even if they don't spend a dime. It's more a Pay to Progress model than it is Pay to Win. Can you Pay to Win? For sure, but the game also demands a certain level of skill and situation awareness. I've been toasted by people who's mechs were way lower leveled than mine, and I've done my fair share of toasting high squad power players too. Where War Robots has become more strategic, I see MA as being more tactical. In terms of where MA is at in comparison to War Robots, I'd say just before the Dash and Spectre era. Oh, and the mechs can only carry a maximum of 2 weapons, so it's impossible to build an Orkan Spectre! Anyway, welcome and don't be shy. Feel free to post more of your experiences. I'm sure lots of folks here would love to reminisce about the glory days!

While I acknowledge my reckless spending I don’t necessarily regret it, as it was fun at the time and allows me to have decent bot and weapon collection to pull from today. I somehow won a Fenrir on the release event and a Blitz during its release (back when it only had 120k armor and 45 kph at 1.9) and it felt so cool having the latest toys in my hands. Now that I have a bunch if bots that I enjoy and recognize the effort/money required to get the newest stuff these I am content with that I have (mostly ).

079 - Damn you! I want that Schutze!! Frick! Trust me you’re not missing much. It’s one of those things where you idolize it because you don’t have it but when you do you realize it’s just a thing that exists. Unlike modern bots that prove themselves on the battlefield the only worth a Schutze has is what you place on it.
