Some Perspective about Orbital Strikes

There's always something in test server that gives rise to frustration, but as we can see, Pix knows how to push the edge of OP without the game becoming totally unplayable. Without a doubt there are many things that make the game unplayable sometimes, but many of us still keep going. You either adapt or take a break. Often there are comments made about certain features in War Robots that seem to come from only looking at it in the context of War Robots. So what I'd like to share here is some perspective by contrasting it with aspects of other games, because for me this helps me just accept what's going on.

In Call of Duty Mobile, there are drones that blow you up from outta nowhere; Vtol's that annihilate entire teams from the sky; airstrikes it is near impossible to avoid and so on. There are so many things in that game that can be frustrating, and like War Robots some matches are just a slaughter. That's how it goes.

In Mech Arena you have mechs that shut off your entire weapon system and put your special ability on reload; some immobilize your entire system and all you can do is stand there without firing. There are highly accurate rocket mortar that can take out a full health mech in cover and so on.

In Battle of Titans, the orbital strike, called in by the backpack called 'Beacon', does not give any indicators to telegraph to its target that bombs are incoming, so you can't completely evade them.

So to me, now seeing what's going on in the War Robots gameplay and the likelihood of airstrikes, its not surprising or really that frustrating because I'm used to this 「dookie」 from other games where it is the norm.

In contrast though, what we know so far about orbital strike is there are long countdown timers to prevent excessive strikes, and there is a ground indicator telegraphing to you the need to evade. Do phase shift, absorber, jump, dash, flight etc are possible evasive meneuvers. Hopefully they will set some reasonable limits on how many can be done at a time, distances, maybe some post-strike immunity like we have after being locked down. If the strikes are so overbearing that nearly all matches are unplayable, of course people will just throw their hands up and leave. But again, as we have seen, they push the OP to the edge and not beyond it. Sure, some people leave, lots of people leave, but lots of people stay and keep going don't they!

So lets see how it plays out. Worth keeping in mind too that the player uproar about drones has caused serious changes to drone system, so if the mothership orbital strike system is beyond unreasonable, just make a stink about it. Otherwise, we know that the game is what it is and all we can do is adjust or quit. If people are still playing, that means the game is still playable for them, and probably for you too.

Some people, you know who he is, makes their main objective and fun to use legacy equipment to take on new stuff, and I find that incredibly commendable. Not just the effort, but his perspective and attitude. So its good to get some perspective.
