A question I asked a while back was why maxed players dropped a bot from their hanger, two of the most answers given was so MM would place them against similar SP players (this is always disputed as some say MM uses your whole bot/weapon collection SP not just your starting hanger).
The second answer was to hide their true strength on the starting stat screen and fool other players that they were mid range.
Now Plarium has controversially removed that starting stat screen I'm now asking the question again as I am still seeing a lot of high level players doing this (just had one now in CPC and he handed me my butt),as I can't see his starting SP why did he drop a bot ?,why not a full hanger.
This is again making me wonder if lower starting SP does indeed reduce the strength of your opponent in games,as why else would they do it.
I have asked on FB but I get the usual I never use five bots or because they can blah blah, anyone have a better reason to do this?.
I also asked a question on Discord this morning to why I had five different players in a row with 600-900 more SP than me,it's like MM was on vacation, and again three of those players ran four bot hangers.I didn't get a reply.

Most of the time I use only up to 3 of 5 bots. A lot of times I use one. So why not take off some SP if it might help your matchups? I don't often do this myself though. Other members here say it has no effect. But I'm not sure about that.

Somebody on discord told me that SP does factor into MM, but only as far as the strength of the whole teams. He said he tracked team SP’s (when they were visible), and the sum SP of each team was usually very similar. So, if one player drops a 400 power mech from his active hangar, he might be affecting the strength of the entire enemy team by 400, or an average of 80 per player, which really isn’t a whole lot. And that’s IF there’s any validity to what this guy is telling me. So there could be something to it, but it’s all a very well kept trade secret. Ssssshhhhhh!! Pigsonic MA game support swears up and down that MM is all skill-based, which could be anything when you figure all the game metrics they keep, especially when they apply Russian math to it.

I just find it odd that over the last few days I have been placed against so many high level players, without seeing their SP I can tell just by playing I'm up against a 3000+ SP player,I run a 2500 SP hanger with regular weapons apart from one CB 12,it feels like the game has had a huge influx of big paying players and I have seen so many Railguns over the last few days it's regular as seeing Javelins.Im not falling into the trap of paying big to rank up but I'm losing so many games being steamrolled that once I have completed my dailys I don't have much desire to keep playing on.Not sure if it's MM or players tweaking their hanger SP but the only fun I'm finding in the game is teaming up with friends.

If you run solo you are going to have stings of unfair matchups, MM just works that way. It doesn’t matter how well you play, you will lose. I have fair hanger , just below 3000 and I can’t win them all, no matter how well I play.
Example, this morning I had a CPC game in which had 17 kills and 5 beacons. I still lost, pretty annoying fo-sho. I was locked in, protecting, recapturing and slaying fools but my AI teammates wouldn’t lift a finger to help.

SP has no effect on MM. The people that think it does are dealing with a placebo effect. The EXP counter doesn't end at the max shown XP in the progress bar. XP, total games, and win ratio are the only MM modifiers. Sometime the MM just throws players at each other in Div 1. High win rate leads to a string of running into severely handicapped matches until the game thinks you've had enough. The time window of entering the MM can also play a part. Then there's also funky math when in a squad. I've seen players with R3 ish hangars pulling in 3K players into my matches.
