Why did Wolverine in Logan movie get old?

Because the adamantium on his bones was slowly poisoning him and as he got older, his healing ability was no longer able to hold it back. He went through most of his life without the adamantium, and if he never got it, he might very well have lived forever, but, as it was, he healing factor was barely holding it back, plus, he kept getting hurt which meant his healing had to work overtime but it was a losing battle.
Plus, Hugh Jackman was done with the role and it was a great way to round off the trilogy and pass the torch. Dafne Keene made a great child Wolverine. I just hope she reprises the role at some point when she's older.
Also, the folks behind the X-men series do a half assed job at continuity writing. They pretty much peaked at X-men 2 and then knocked it out of the park with the Wolverine series. They almost pulled it out of the fire with First Class, but then screwed up the rest.

That makes sense, in all X-Men movies there was talk about Wolverine not getting old, and then all of the sudden, Wolverine is old, and I was thinking, what the hell! Though it had something to do with Samurai robot taking his powers from previous movie, but that didn't make sense because Wolverine recovered in that move. Thanks for clarification, I can finally catch some sleep tonight.

Too bad they never brought the X-men franchise into the MCU cause the folks behind the MCU are freaking amazing at continuity writing.
