Not the robot, but the bird. I just spent the better part of the afternoon watching the hawks flying above the Kamogawa...so majestic. darn it. All of my videos are too big. I’ll try to get a photo and update this post. (not my photo) No good hawk photos on my phone. How about a nature scene? Not very clear.

I saw a good Murder of Ravens up in Niseko. It was like Saruman was guiding them. Beautiful.

I know it’s a murder of crows, it just sounds odd. my phone battery died so I was unable to get any good photos. I got some with my camera though. The hawks were swarming, chasing murders of crows and fishing in the river. I was nearly dive-bombed. They were close to ten feet above me at times. The girls nearby screaming “kowai”.

Ravens and crows are pretty much the same thing, so I'm guessing. We call them crows here. Are they crows in Japan or Ravens? I researched. Collective nouns for a group of ravens (or at least the common raven) include "rave", "treachery", "unkindness" and "conspiracy". In practice, most people use the more generic "flock".

Apparently, Ravens are similar in size to the hawk and crows closer to pigeon size. Although the crow is more common in Japan, the ones I saw mixing it up with the hawk were midway between pigeon and hawk in size. Ravens are seen in Hokkaido only in the winter. The one's in Kyoto are the Jungle and Carrion Crow. "Kurasu" is a blanket term for Raven, Crow or any black bird. I used to love seeing the "Indian blackbird" when I was young- they have orange, yellow and red markings on the shoulder.

This thread was a disappointment.
I thought this was about being wistful for being one of Anthony's offspring.

Being Tony Hawk’s son would be wicked pissa. Did you see the video where Patton Oswalt, the comedian, took his daughter to get skating lessons from the Hawk? I don’t skate, but that’s gotta be the best b-day present as a child.

When I had my teacup Yorkie, I used to be paranoid about letting him out. I was scared that a hawk would swoop down and take him away!
But, I do love seeing these birds flying or catching a thermal. There's even a heron in my area that I see very rarely. What an amazing bird!

There's even a heron in my area that I see very rarely. What an amazing bird! They’re not shy when they’re hungry. I’ve seen them grab sandwiches out of people’s hands while sitting by the river. I used to see a lot of herons back home when I’d go canoeing. Kyoto has cormorants, kingfishers and egrets along with the aforementioned hawks, crows and several species of duck all along a river flowing through the center of the city.

So I am told by this bird expert that's next to me pestering me to tell you that.

I read that as well and have no idea why they seized it up against a pigeon. Magpies are more pidgeon sized but they are black and white.
