Ya know, I'm starting to fray at the edges. I'm not willing to spend all kindsa money to have 2 Demeters with maxed Sonics on board. Lately some well-funded clans have been rocking my world while I've been in a full clan squad. I do far better, win or lose, in solo beacon play. It may be a loss but we don't get rolled. Seeing Manni rock some Pun-Ts (although in cherry-picked video) today, makes me think that an FU effort may be more in line with what will make me happy. I think I'm going to worry about me and less about winning is everything. There is a LOT of money being spent in the big money clans and I'm not even going to try to keep up. That would be foolish. Poopface : Don't get excited, I'm not going to be your Zenit war-buddy. Yet.

The power difference between big spenders and dolphins is huge as is the difference between dolphins and F2P. Non maxed squads are just not rolling out much as they know they will just get spawn raided over and over. We call it good if we make it 8 or more minutes against pure money. To them its a good game just because it took more than two minutes and they can rack up some damage/ silver. These games will end with players on both sides haveing one or more over 5 million and the lowest over 2 million damage but eventually we will mech without the maxed wonder drone skills along with their uber bots/ weapons and pilots. I also run solo allot nowadays. I get in my damage and try but don't worry when I get wiped out.

Loganspawn : Thanks. It's mostly the Demeters, Shells, and Sonic Ravanas that are ruinous. The Demeters move too fast, their bubble lasts too long, they train. I have a Demeter at 1.9 and I'm not all that motivated to level it to competence and then to take out yet another completely decent, leveled bot so I can pander to Pix. I'm hoarding Ag, let's see how this goes... Today I almost took out TWO well-built Shells from the same guy with my Flamey Phantom... He was coming in hard and fast over the bridge at Springfield and when he saw all those suppressing flames he got "puckered" quite quickly and turned hard-left to hide... He died when he got gang-jumped going for our home. So then I rushed their home with a largely intact Phantom and he shows up with another Shell. I didn't kill him but got him down to Last Stand. So there's still some fun to be had, but this was a solo with randoms.

I was gonna say something along the lines of "your transformation will be complete when you reenter Expert" until I read gza's post. He made all the best points! I never played LL or even past 6k champs, but I did spend a lot of time in Champs and significantly enjoy Expert more. Hell, my current hangar is pushing back up Masters now and I'm a little frustrated because I like it, but don't like Masters.
The ruinous, boring meta cycle will continue. In lower leagues you'll find more variety. And like gza said, some really good players in the same state of mind as us, running effective, but more legacy builds.
To the points about matchmaking. Man, Pixo really ruined team play with their latest rework - it was already bad and now is worse. It simply is not fun to sign up to lose. I don't know anyone who makes a conscious decision to lose. Maybe some people I knew growing up who hated their parents and all authority because they had functional mental disabilities but no one chose to understand them .. those guys chose to lose as a middle finger to the world. But now, no. No one. And paying the exorbitant prices imposed by Pixo to mostly win is not a value add to my life. Like Logan said, the power difference between Dolphins and Whales is huge. My reasoning is that if I'm gonna spend money then I intend to dominate. Therefor I won't spend anymore money because I refuse to spend what's required to dominate.
There's almost no point to being in a clan anymore either except to say hey to your pals. If you're not top 1-2 in all losses then you're usually negative in clan points. It mentally screws with you. I retired clan life and am only in the clan I'm in now because the dude that invited me was named something along the lines of [fluffmuttered]byfuxonic.

✯ WARDADDY ✯ : We lost a hard fighting, capable, under-funded guy from our clan because (I suspect) he was starting to feel like a liability. Nobody put that on him, but with his all Pursuer hangar I think he wanted to come/go/quit matches as he pleased. I know that when solo he was quitting matches against full clans. Some other clans expressed displeasure at this and I feel like, "It's his brand of fun and he can do whatever he wants. Better to have him in the community at large then to have him quit 100%."

I get in my damage and try but don't worry when I get wiped out. QFT.
All of the stuff posted above (particular Ollie's OP) is why I went 100% with my FU hanger. I used to try to run a reasonable facsimile of a "meta" hanger to try to play things "straight" but kept getting frustrated with my inability to hang with the meta. I had realizations similar to others -- I guess BB was the true originator -- where I either quit entirely or started playing the game my own way. I went the path I did with the FU hanger. That's certainly not the only way to play without pursuing the meta, it's just the way I do it.

Bingo ... and why I played with you the other day and I had to hear Molot-T's ringing in the air for 10 minutes!! Your in like the Teflon Don's clan right? Assuming I'm picking up what you're putting down, yes, I'm in one of Teflon Don's clans.
Regarding Molot-T's, I run them on a Typhon. The interest is to piss off people at range, particularly those Mings that like sitting back and hitting people who're running < 500m guns. My goal is to get them to realize they won't get free range to do whatever they want. Looking forward to getting Sharpshooter; that should help a good bit more.

Yeah I do the Molot-T thing as well, pretty fun build IMO! I was impressed you killed it, better than me. I don't know about killing it. I still have a lot of room for improvement. Thanks for the compliment, though.

The power difference between big spenders and dolphins is huge as is the difference between dolphins and F2P. And that there is the rub. Eventually my hangar will be come less relevant as I refuse to dump money into it. Dolphin money, yes. Whale money, "Awww hell no!" And then the Dolphin money won't be worth it so that will go away...

And that there is the rub. .......And then the Dolphin money won't be worth it so that will go away... Speaking like someone who thinks the path to enjoyment is via League ranking. If that's how you're going to insist on seeing the game, yes. If you just want to screw around and build stuff that you have enjoyment with, that's a far different story.
Speaking personally, I've spent faaaaar more money on the game since I stopped trying to stick with the meta than otherwise. I'm willing to spend a bit here and there if it makes me have fun. Not to keep with the meta. Semantics, but I think it's an important distinction. It helps clarify between needing to keep up with the Jonses Rothschilds and spending some money just for kicks.

The 「dookie」 you do to find your fun. Up against a wall in a Molot Jesse with shell casings flying and not giving a 「fluffernutter」. Get a Titan Slayer and you know you're living the dream.
