ʂɬɛɛƖAs you seem to be a permanent resident of the Legends League -and- you're not the type to run five Ares, five Hawks, five Demeters: What's your criteria for investing in another Bot or weapon suite? What tips you over into, "Yeah, I think I'll spend Ag on that?" We all talked you out of leveling four Arbalests for your Patton, so that's cool, but I was curious to know what kind of meta ruminations you do to keep from being tempted to dive into all the latest toys that Pix releases. Thanks.

Boy, that’s a tough question. At least tough in trying to answer with some form of coherence and not writing a book...lol but I’ll give it a go
1) when I first started (and even now) I pay attention to things that I struggle against. And obviously not whatever is meta because everyone struggles with that. To this day still recall the first time a blitz got all up in my Leo’s business and I was like what just happened. The blitz was the bot that carried me to champion league. So that’s tip #1, pay attention to your opponents 2) paying close attention to the meta, new releases and nerfs. Planning to counter the meta (like having flames ready for shells) or nerfs (knowing now that sonic rebalance is coming) is absolutely critical. I plotted the hades to survive hawks is another example 3) doing constant hangar evaluations and having a clear plan for your bots. I need bots that can get beacons, defend beacons, do I want a healer, do I want a range option, how is each bot I’m currently running performing, do I enjoy playing this bot/build, does this look fun or effective. I’m constantly going thru this process. And in my case now, it’s all focused on how does what I’m running perform in squad. 4) luck? If I get something meta then fantastic. But as someone who doesn’t gamble and only has the coins we earn to go by, it’s obviously hit or miss. Completely missed out on hawk. I did win shell and typhon. Demeter was a giveaway (as is the warrior typhon). So if you luck into meta early, you have to try to get it leveled
To try to conclude, without going overboard, I’ll just say the following. As it stands right now, I’m 100% happy with my hangar and how it’s working both in solo play and in squad. I’m struggling to find anything to invest in, so I’m slowly leveling a bulwark because I like them and think they look fun and effective. I haven’t won any new weapons, but I’m not interested in them. I’m trying to plan for the sonic nerf and what it’ll mean for my Demeter. But since I only run 2 of them, I’m not worried. It’s taken me a long tim to get to a point where I didn’t feel like I needed to replace something. But I’m constantly thinking and preparing like I do
xxx addition xxx It seems like I misread some so my answer isn’t quite in line with the question. As far as how do I pass up on meta things, it’s going to boil down to the luck factor mostly. It seems like weapons are especially problematic. I actually won 1 devastator and that’s it sonic wise, components and all. The 2 havoc I have are giveaways from video contest. I do have 2 magnetar and 2 hornets but again I’m not looking to add range to my hangar. So they’ll go unleveled for now. I’d say new weapons are the easiest things to avoid if you’re not buying lots of coins because it’s not worth leveling 1 magnetar for instance. If it was a good heavy weapon that’s one thing, but medium and light weapons, I’d be waiting till I had multiple. Bots are a different story, but the first rule there is do I have the weapons to run this. If the answer is no, well then there’s a problem. And as with anything, the final deciding factor will always be sufficient resources....
maybe I’ve correctly answered this now... maybe...

Some other advice I have learned from steel on other threads.
- Be focussed and don’t go chasing butterflies. - be aware of how a bot’s power scales. For exampLe a Fenrir scales Exponentially, in that it takes a long time before the upgrades start kicking in, but when they do kick in it is beastly. A Loki scales logarithmically in that you get a lot of benefits early, but few extra benefits later. - know what pilot skills are needed and don’t overinvest in pilots, you can use the Au better elsewhere.

A well leveled non meta bot (cough hades cough) is WAY better than a somewhat leveled meta one and yes PLAN what you’re doing. Know the important pilot skills and gather that Au... plan plan plan

Like is there a reason or situation you wouldn't have those 3?

I have another question. Could you give us an estimate on how much playtime per day does a LL player do to get and stay there (an average estimate)?
Also, do you do it because LL is your goal or do you just play well and a lot so LL is a natural consequence of that?

It might have been a goal when I first saw it, but not anymore. Like now, I’m in Champs II and feel no burning need to get to Champs I🙃 I’d say you’d need to average idk 4hrs/day 🤷♂️ Never really thought about it tbh you’ve just gotta play and you need to finish 1st or 2nd win or lose 90-95% of the time solo/duo

Bot ability recharge skills are a must for some bots. I’m also a big fan of AdHR. Yes, it’s conditional on 3 Red beacons, but that’s when you really need it. Maxed speed Phantom is damn near Loki-levels of Benny Hill silliness. And speedy Blitz w ability catches some serious air in full stride.

Like is there a reason or situation you wouldn't have those 3? I don’t want to speak for Steel, but to paraphrase - Mechanic, Armor expert, Road Hog - useful on pretty well every bot. After that make an analysis of how often you will use the skill and how much Au it costs. Some bots (eg Hades) can do perfectly fine with a level 40 pilot. Some bots (eg Loki) get lots of usefulness from pilot skills and you can justify taking them to level 70. Think about what you use. If you bot is going to spam active modules then Dodger and possibly Modules expert can be a good investment. Bots with shields benefit from the shield skills, (imo crazy electrician is the best one) Some weapon skills are near mandatory (eg Piwerman sharpshooter) others useful (Eg guidance operator) or not so useful (Speed shooter). You have to make a balance between the Au you spend (Highest is 5,500 to promote to level 61, choose the skill you want at T1, then 1,500 to take it to T3) and the benefit you get.
