....if any of you may be interested in joining? I mentioned it to @old-Cat a while back and others were asking who Koalabear was. I know most here are waiting for real clans, but if you are interested let me know.

LOL, I got an invite to join too, and I don't even need to change my handle. I offered the guy instead to come here so that we could talk about the game here.
Right now, I see clans in MA as more social groups of people who get together outside of the game in some shape or form. I don't mind. The first clan I joined, Wolf Pack, is rather quiet on their Discord and I'm thinking of leaving. From a social networking perspective, it only works if there are enough people who want to chat.

Some of the guys there squad, but not all. When im available with full coms there is no one on them. At night, 5-15 get on, butbat that time i can only run ears.

HTT is different from other clans in that they don't invite anyone to their server who's not a member, so you only hangout w/ other HTT members. Granted, they have like 100 of them. Other clans like mine do invite good players to come hang out, whether or not they intend to join or indicated interested in joining P.S. if anyone is interested in hanging out in our server, send me a DM (w/ your ID) and I'll take a look

I’m just not into the whole ‘hanging out’ part. I want players who are decent at the game and good to squad with, and that’s it. I did that socializing thing in a W R clan awhile back, and I just found it to be a distraction. When I get online to play the game, I don’t want to gab, I just want to play the fluffernuttering game. Not to mention that discord, the apparent chatterer of choice among mech gamers, seems to bring out the worst of the worst of this 140-character generation. I’ve been invited to join a few of these ‘clans’, but I’ve politely declined them all, mostly because they require members to be on discord.

However, if you stay away from the cesspool that is the official MA discord, clan discords are much better. If ppl do stupid things or start drama, they tend to get removed quite quickly

And I’m just generally the antisocial type, in case that wasn’t already glaringly obvious.

It might feel weird to you if you're like me and dislike typing those words out, but we've got you covered!

Just to add to this, for those not sure about joining a clan, even using Discord as the main component of Clan Communication and Organization (cough... Danny... cough).
I am not the most social or active player, and I still get a lot out of being in my clan (not naming to keep focus on thread OP - PM if interested). I was up front with my issues with time/activity and they were fine with it. Good squadmates, lots of knowledge, and no downsides. It may only be "social" in appearance, but it's just as much a clan experience as any that I have been in. I would say better, actually. I mean... Who knows when the feature will come out... next week, or next Fall... might as well get some real player support if you can. Having steady squadmates is invaluable. This is not meant to hijack the thread away from Duke or HTT, (I don't know too much about other clans so I can't speak about HTT family, but I imagine there is something there worth joining for if you click with the folk there, they have a lot of chapters), but instead to say "what have you got to lose?" to joining a clan, in general.
I don't participate in drama, which has almost completely been left out of our server, so even if it occurs, it doesn't affect me any. Set your expectations and let clan leadership know your limits before joining, and give it a go! You can always bow out... seems like most folk are chill and adult- ish and will just wish you the best if you do. There are exceptions, of course, but the core of the most popular clans are just dedicated players who want decent teammates and more games against other humans (have any of y'all heard of the clan time drops every Friday? it's a thing.)
Just a thought...

I did do some Friday night fights a couple weeks ago, I wasn't on coms. But different clans, or many from the same clan time their drops, using coms and as i have seen, we sometimes do get a few games against flesh and blood.

I hear what you’re saying, and I can’t argue against the benefit of comms in game play. For most people. My problem is it just doesn’t work for me. And I know there’s a downside in that I’m probably missing out on a lot of team games without that connection to clan mates. But between it being more distracting and annoying than helpful, and the actual logistics of using it where I live and play, it’s just a nonstarter. More of a pain in the patootie (to me) than any benefits I’d ever get from it.

I know players are excited about clans in MA,but I remember when the devs of Mech Battle introduced clans it soon turned into a pissing contest and quickly turned into hate among certain clan leaders.Discord was full of arguments and accusations and I think it may have been one of the issues that led to the game being wound up and abandoned.
I hope lessons were learnt from that time, and the few discord channels I am a member of are pretty chilled, but emotions boil over when games and clans get competitive and with the developers non existent in this game it could get nasty.

I've never once got a request from any clan, I win. ..... or I suck.... hah A member here invited me a while back, and then that member seems to have ghosted. I did have some interest from one of our rivals at first, messaged me in game and I joined their server to check em out, but I didn't click with them at all. Stuck with where I am at and am glad of it. Good peeps. Other than that, nothing else. Seems it's easier to get more MA news and player interaction from this here War Robots forum than anywhere else besides Discord. Crazy lol.
