I’ve come to this conclusion. I have yet to find one that doesn’t have something about it that frustrates the crap out of me. Not one. This new mobile freemium app monetization model doesn’t give two craps about entertaining players, it’s all about how much cash they can wring out of you. I’m convinced that the frustration is built into every one, and it’s all about making you THINK spending money will reduce the frustration. It never does, in fact it’s usually just the opposite, unless you spend a LOT. I play these games to relax, and I just end up getting frustrated with ALL of them. Pigsonic takes it to new levels, but they’re all like this to some degree, and it flat out sucks. I’m ready to smash my brand new iPad to pieces. I’ve had it with the lot of them.

So true. Spending money does not ease the frustration. Not one bit. Better to keep your hard earned cash.

All games SUCK
Fixed that for you. All games have adopted this model like 6 years ago. You can thank anyone gaming after 2006 for this almost exclusively.
It all started going downhill with the introduction of the nintendo64 though. The idea that you can pick up where you left off infinite times with no consequences of your actions.
Look at huge AAA titles. (lol sorry, I mean "S" tier lol, who the 「fluffernutter」 came up with this?).. Mmos Shooters Rpgs
It don't matter.
Dlc this dlc that, no fear of nothing, gamble gamble, download, stream, steam. Very steamy! Skims skins skins! Don't play a game! Play a JOB.
Play a 「fluffernutter」ing JOB to finance your VIRTUAL WARDROBE.
WHAT IS GUILD WARS 2? A GLORIFIED BABRIE DRESS UP SHOP.
WHAT IS CALL OF DUTY? A GLORIFIED BABRIE DRESS UP 「extra friendly woman」 WALK
most games are nothing but annadvances social media platform.
So sorry, but in this scope, War robots is actually one of the best games on the market.

My grandkids enjoy roblox!
Seriously though what about Fortnite? I think they make their money off of skins, emotes, etc but the game does not take money to be good. I may be wrong about that. I am lousy at those types of games which is why I also do not play FFA in War Robots.

Finally, the light comes on. It is not just Pix.....it is all of um. I’ve played games that if you do not spend for invulnerable shield and don’t play for a day or two, you come back to rubble and start building again! Imagine coming back and you drop ship was destroyed, and your bots are piles of junk, and you need to re level! Hell no! Come back, Danny....after qualifying, you may be lower leagues where fun is still possible!

Sky: Children of the Light is the game I play and it’s beautiful, made by a conscientious company that is more interested in crafting an amazing experience than sucking your money. No gatcha BS, no overflowing UI nonsense, no lowest common denominator. No P2W because there isn’t really any winning, it’s more a space to explore and make friends. They make money by selling cosmetics and slightly fancier emotes, but free players can still get really great items and in time get most of them. I’ve been playing in earnest over a year and so enamored with Sky I started buying the season pass, the only mobile game I’ve ever spent money on. And did I say it’s beautiful and sounds delicious 🥰 It’s just an attractive and pleasant place to be and when I quit a play session I’m left joyful and relaxed.
I agree with your overall point though, 99% of mobile game companies have their nose firmly up the gatcha hole.

I actually get a kick out of CODM Youtubers that get bent out of shape claiming the game is Pay2Win when the dev releases a special edition assault rifle once in a blue moon that has slightly better iron sights than the stock model. LMAO I'm like... you frickin guys have no clue what P2W is...

War Robots is one of the worst in terms of monetizing. I know they gotta make money but they take it over the top with OP releases and frequent nerfs.
Since I stopped playing I mostly do BOT and Shadowgun Legends. In both games I see players who obviously pay for gear but nothing that makes them invincible. I and my F2P stuff can at least give them a good challenge.
I know that the guys behind Shadowguns have stated they are against the P2W model.

I have often wondered if there is a market for story lead games for mobile that you pay for up front. A lot of the old GTA games are ported mobile now, I'd probably go with PC versions, but there must be a market for *normal* games.

I cannot complain about the PC games - I haven't bought anything from Blizzard, Bethesda, EA for years - with the exception of getting some old titles i missed.
There are a lot of smaller developers who make wonders. Those games usually don't have the cutting edge graphics, but when it's compensated by everything else, i don't mind.

Lots of mobile games suck.
PUBG, COD, BoT, Fortnite and other games are zero P2W as you can either get stuff by playing in a short time (weeks not years like in War Robots) and there's either little or zero power difference between players.
There are good mobile games out there.

There are good mobile games out there. I tried most of them - I just can’t do those faster-paced FPS’s. Never really could, going back to the days of Doom and Wolfenstein on PC. After awhile I get dizzy, on the verge of motion sickness. F’d up, yes. But for me they suck.

Hey, I remember that we were writing about this some months back when I created the thread about "Drone", this super fast 720 degree shooter game. What about other genres? RPGs, RTS? Those are usually at a slower pace. Don't know if I asked this already, buy BoT wasn't your game, right?

I gave BoT a lot of time, right from when it first came available as a public test. I can’t explain exactly why, but my interest in it it just slowly declined until it became more of a chore to play than enjoyment. The upgrade process got increasingly slow and klugy, and that second game mode they introduced (can’t remember what it’s called) I could never figure out the objective of it. But mostly it’s whole approach to upgrades was just tedious and overly complicated, with lots of time and resources needed for very little benefit, and not very conducive to trial-and-error - once you start down an upgrade path, you’re pretty much bound to it without blowing a LOT of resources to start over in a new direction. And, for the most part, the more I played it the more I sucked. Instead of learning from losses, I just kept getting worse. Another example of a game that ended up being way more frustrating than enjoyable.

IIRC, Steel Convoy......BoT was kinda fun, great bots....but only 2 maps and rarely Steel Convoy, which I did figure out-pretty fun-then massive upgrade grind plus boredom with no maps equaled adios! I did like the game, but lack of maps blows....War Robots has “lost” 3 maps, all of which I miss.....but there is still way more variety in War Robots than many games I’ve played.

Another example of a game that ended up being way more frustrating than enjoyable. I think the upgrade system is awesome. They usually have some events per year where you get double EC. Getting 4 million in ten matches is easily possible and upgrades from T1 to T2 are rather cheap. Then you have a chance to get T2 or even T3 stuff from the Black Market at a very low EC price. And you can just move the weapons at least for light end medium slots as you want. I love playing the Mite. Can be played as a super fast annoying bot with little armor or as a slower pretty tanky mother「fluffernutter」er. Can shot guided missiles, machine gun or longer range cannon. I change my hangar all the time. Sometimes there are six small bots in it. Sometimes one heavy and three small. Love it that you have to decide if you want many small bots or a few larger ones. Also love that upgrades are instant without waiting time and getting all T2 equipment takes just a few hundred played matches. 500 matches get me nowhere in other games without spending money. The second game mode is basically capture the bot and navigate it to a transport location. All in all, the very high level of strategy and the zero pay to win makes BoT one of the best mobile games for me. But it's not for everyone I guess.
