So .. it seems Nightingale cannot cap or hold a beacon anymore while using its ability ... ever. I've tried to activate when I'm already inside the cap zone, fly into the cap zone, etc. I've even been standing directly on beacon, activate, NOT move, and still loss the beacon.
The patch notes state "cannot capture beacons when flying in most cases". It seems that most cases are 100% of them.
Anyone have an idea what case they CAN cap a beacon while flying?

Are you sure it's not because of the increased height of the flight, which (along the decreased speed) was mentioned in the patch notes? They did that explicitly to stop the beacon capping...
Test it when flying low? For example on the center beacon at the castle, start flight from the lower deck...

Jump and activate flight before you land.
If you are dropping in on a beacon to defend, activate flight before your bot lands on the ground when its being spawned.
Alternatively, if there is a wall nearby, hug the wall, keep running towards to wall, then activate flight. Sometimes you will be "stucked" by the wall and won't achieve the full flight's height. You can also try this on another bot instead of a wall.

I am almost positive I held a beacon today with my Nightingale on Carrier when I took off from the lower level so my flight height was not high enough above the beacon so I believe it is still all the flight height of the "nerf" that causes it. So try to take off from a lower point or against something if possible to try and stop yourself from going to high.
Someone correct me if I am wrong though cause it was the heat of the battle and a lot was going on.

More options to cap your flight height in some maps than others.

As has been mentioned, rub up against a wall, obstacle or a team mate (or enemy) to limit flight height and within the beacon capping zone.
I have sadly shelved my maxed out Nightingale for now as I feel the flight speed nerf has just gone too far.
You can't use your speed to get to injured team mates to heal them up, it's much harder to "retreat" from an enemy, a lot harder to hunt down campers/Scorpions/Hawks on cooldown and you are a sitting duck in the air against Quantum Radar and Ao Jun pilots.

Indeed. I still keep mine as it does annoy and rack up kills, but it doesn't chase anywhere as well as it did.

Start flight below the level of the beacon you want to cap. By a good bit,2/3 of the total height in flight will do it.

I think its sad day when a bot has to be nerfed so hard you cant capture a beacon using its ability. The Ravana was the first I saw them do that to, I think it was mainly people running PS combined with the Ravs ability is what did it. But to me, it just further proves they do NOT test new gear thoroughly before it gets to the live server because its all a quest to "sell power" and anything not fixed is just an "oversight" that they will deal with " at a later date".. We have maps we havent seen in months but more new bots and weapons are coming out. Pixs priorities are just messed up in my book.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to try the "rub" technique and see how it works. On certain maps, the take off change is easy enough but some will definitely require the rub.

I think Pix used the months-ago survey to nix unpopular maps. Aaaaaand they don't sell access or buffs to maps (wait, what?) so they have way less incentive to develop maps as they generate less dahllahs then power/winning in the form of bots and weapons. I developed my TFalc solely for Yamantau and now that flavor of map is gone. *sigh*

On the "nerfed" Nightingale...I've been using mine much more in the role as imagined by Pixonic. Sticking close to Arthurs, staying overhead and healing them while suppressing opponents, capping beacons of opportunity but really working the healer role, and guess what?
I've been coming in highly placed on the strength of honor points a lot more. And it's because I'm getting in a lot more healing action. Hard pressed to call it a nerf, especially since the changes they made to the Nightingale extend the healing zone by a lot.

Well I've won the nightingale in the superchest yesterday. So far I took it to level 3 and I don't have legendary pilot. All I can say is: it's overpowered as 「fluffernutter」 compared to my other bots!
Even if it didn't have ANY weapons, it would be strong enough bot with the suppression combined with healing. I can't believe people whine about it no longer being a beacon capper and rush attack force.
You can turn around clash of several bots from total defeat to victory simply by suppressing and healing. Admittably, the second part seems to be something that many random nightingale pilots struggle with. They just rush forward with their suppression, hunting for some close combat kills, ignoring the friends on the ground. I've always wondered why i have to chase that green healing column around if I want some of it.

The difference between capping and not capping a beacon in terms of Nightingale's flight height is the difference between the ground at the very center of Powerplant and that beacon on the pitcher's mound on the side (by the high ground spawn). Verified that today.

I always said it was OP as a beacon capper before but they went overboard with the nerf to flight speed. Yes it's good as a Titan healer but it now struggles to keep up with a lot of other bots which was a major reason they buffed the Menders speed so that it could keep up with team mates. As usual, the excuses they give for nerfs are just smoke and mirrors and It's obvious the nerf came for Nightingale to sell more of the incoming Demeter. Even so, I'm not running any healers at the moment due to the influx of sonic weapons and my endgame honour points have taken a hit due to this.

I run it in one of my fun hangars and it frequently helps secure the win. IF there were an HP category for Suppression, it’d be a gold mine. Also, when I drop in Minos and I see that green circle keeping me healthy, I look at the Reds and think...
