Well, I took my beloved Bird out for a spin since 6.8 came out. -- She's noticeably slower but not mega ridiculous, however I run all speed skills on the pilot including Adamant Road Hog. --BTW, after testing, the Bird walks as fast as she flies. Rollo Tomasi --You can't fly to cover as quickly as you are used to. Be warned. darr -- The heal bubble is noticeably larger. This is a big buff to the support role. Healing two bots at once is MUCH easier. -- It IS true you can't capture a beacon while in flight if you start from the same height as the beacon you want to capture. -- You'll need to spend more time on the ground capping beacons, so you're open to dying... Just saying. -- Beacons you can still capture post-6.8 nerf: -- Dead City; the "upper" beacons if you start from the lower ground -- Valley; center beacon if you start from the valley floor -- Valley; the other beacons if you start from the valley floor (untested) -- Carrier; center beacon if you start from a lower deck -- Carrier, under the red left/right beacon. Fly over, land under the platform, hold breath, fly again either under the platform or at full height if you back up from under the platform a wee bit. -- Castle; center beacon if you start from the lower platform of that beacon (untested) -- Castle; side beacons if you start from a lower position (untested) -- Springfield; lots of options but you need to start low, not sure how low... (untested) -- Springfield; the concrete platform that has 2 hangars with a beacon in the middle of them: Fly, hit head on ceiling of hangar, cap beacon. (untested, very likely to work). -- Springfield; capping the Dam beacon changed a little. You now fly high enough to fly directly to the "upper platform" and not the lower one where you can get shot at. darr -- Powerplant; fewer options, start low at "The Beach" and grab "The Hallway", Start on the ground and maybe grab the "Pitcher's Mound." (untested) -- Shenzen; A possibility of being able to capture center being reported by no pain 80 . Confirmed by darr :"I tried and it works, from both side walkways as the roof is lower and will limit the flying height. The roof at the center walkway also limits the flying height but only slightly, still too high to trigger the center beacon."
-- You can now fly in and out of the Coloseum on Rome. That's a plus. (Rollo Tomasi )
--Flight height "limiter" trick: "...rub up against a wall, obstacle or a team mate (or enemy) to limit flight height and within the beacon capping zone." Method Games[YT]

Nice thorough treatment. Remember...Florence Nightingale was a HEALER, she didn’t go out chasing the action 😝

Good news to me. I've been landing on beacons more lately anyway so that's not really going to change my process much.
So far, the "sky is falling" nerf stories have been modestly overstated. It sounds like the EMGs aren't dramatically worse and the Nightingale change is a push on the better/worse scale.

You can also still get center on Yam . . . oh wait. Well at least you can probably get center on Dreadnought . . . oh wait. But on moon you should . . . 「dookie」.
But seriously, good points on Nightingale nerf and itâs still viable. EMG hasnât been too noticeable for me, shredders are a little worse. Hawks are still dangerous but not as many. SO MANY Shells now. Might have to bring back my Ao Jun and throw some embers or glaciers on it. Seen one Demeter so far, faster than I expected.

That there is funny, I don't care who y'are. If Moon comes back, you "should" be able to cap the CB with Nightingale, yes? You just slam your head on either ceiling, repeatedly, until the beacon turns blue?

The flight speed nerf is rough and I had one game where it cost us the victory for sure and probably a 2nd as well. Down to 3 on 3, that speed would have capped beacons. The first one was right down to the wire, just a few more kph would have sealed the victory,
That said, it is still a potent bot, tanky with decent firepower and even slow flight is supremely advantageous. And I have T3 Spy and T4 on both RHs. That flirty lil minx can still move when she needs to!
Edit - you can now fly out of the Colosseum in Rome.

I realized I am taking my Nightingale to a walk to capture beacons lately, since 6.8 to be precise. It is tanky, and have decent ground speed, enough to hold off the ability until total destruction is imminent. Also, in addition to the Oliver's list, to my surprise, I was able to capture, more than once, the center beacon on Shenzen, no apparent altitude differential, with my Nightingale; no other blues in the vicinity.

In support of this hypothesis, when you take off anywhere else you cant get through the passage way.

Get used to popping up in the air to suppress someone then immediately dropping behind them to light them up.
Most people just expect Nightingale to hover the full extent of it’s ability

I held center on Canyon for a while today with my Gale, just staying under the bridge when I hit the flight button and letting it hold me there in stealth mode. I think I managed to survive through three flight cycles before a pair of Arthurs farted me to death.

I only have maxed Molots for mine and been using it since day one with the bird.
With the nerf, I have been getting in more close-range fights...the Molots held up ok with my Overdrive but it's time to change to something mid-range that I can start fighting on the way in....seems like PunisherT/Atomizer/Quaker then...

Oh one more thing. On Carrier, if you start on lower deck you definitely can cap the center beacon....BUT...you are at the EXACT HEIGHT of the arch so you cannot fly thru it. I learnt it the hard way lol, Same as you launch the Ao Jun and gets stuck on the arch.

-- Springfield; the concrete platform that has 2 hangars with a beacon in the middle of them: Fly, hit head, cap beacon. (untested, very likely to work). I stumbled on this during a furball with multiple reds and didn't have a chance to capture but I was in flight mode down low, so... it should work. -- Carrier, under the red left/right beacon. Fly over, land under the platform, hold breath, fly again either under the platform or at full height if you back up from under the platform a wee bit. (tested, obviously works.) Rollo Tomasi , darr , no pain 80 THE NIGHTINGALE IS FAR FROM DEAD. Try it again, use your head, drive reds crazy. *mike drop*

The Nightingale "seems" faster while walking than flying. This needs to be tested.... Oh, I definitely think this is the case. I don't have Road Hog but my tendency now is to stay mobile on the ground and only go into flight if: - I'm getting shot at
- Someone nearby needs healing
- Someone nearby needs suppressing
I might use flight to take a shortcut but I'd pop up, get where I want to be, and land. I've got Virginia Walker as my pilot so the ability reset isn't too bad.

The Nightingale "seems" faster while walking than flying. This needs to be tested.... Quick test indicates that walking and flying are the same speed (or close enough that it doesn’t matter). Also, Pilot skills impact both equally. Test Conditions:
Shenzhen custom match solo in Domination. Home to Home beacons right up the middle, standing start for both walking and flying. 22-23 sec with pilot skills, closer to 30s w/o pilot skills. But within a 1 second for both flying and walking.
Still, I agree; walking seems faster. Probably a function of perceived angular velocity. When objects are close to you, they move by much more quickly than objects further away.

What do you mean by this? The speed nerf limits the distance that can be covered considerably. A lot of cover cannot be reached anymore. For example, from the Springfield home beacon (not the dam side) I can walk to the edge of the platform, launch and land at the edge of the farm beacon and be in cover immediately. Now I will only slightly pass the 3 white towers and need to walk the rest of the way (4-6s in open for snipers). [Springfield] I just noticed that if you launch slightly halfway up the ramps is hit and miss to trigger the 3 beacons. So to err on safe side, launch on the lower half of the ramp, and even if you launch on the creek floor you are still high enough to fly over most of the low structures surrounding the 3 beacons. This is pro and con, depending on how you see it. One pro I have discovered is that when launch from the center beacon towards the dam beacon, I can land on the upper platform - this means I can go into cover quickly. in the past I will be on the lower platform and open to fire from spawn reds.

You'll hit your head on the ceiling of the hangar but now you'll be low enough to cap the beacon." I'm not sure if your dangerously low and can be hit by sonic weapons. be warned. Those are some good reminders/tips about speed and height issues.
