Sooooo I have a question about the new weapon Hornet. Its supposed to be like a heavy version of Wasp right? But unless I am mistaken, we already have that in the form of viper?

Actually, Sting and Wasp work very differently from the Viper. The only thing they have in common is corrosion.
Viper = 500m energy particles with corrosion effect Sting/Wasp = 600m solid projectiles (bullets/shells) with corrosion effect

I always wondered why the Sting, Wasp, and Viper were so dang different. I kind of like the variety though... instead of a family of weapons it was a totally different weapon for each class.
Would a family of Stings, Vipers, and Wasps be the ideal way?
A Heavy Sting would be interesting as Hell lol. Or light Vipers... But the Medium version of anything just makes me squirm nowadays, thanks to the 4 weapon mold that they use for Mechs they want to sell, now. Typhon with Medium Stings would be... hell... IDK what it would be...
Just letting the mind wonder a bit...

Yeah...I've said many times that anything running four medium anythings is going to be a substantial threat. Quad 2.12 Tulumbas? They gonna blow you up.

I am looking forward to this one, and as others have said, they are very different than Vipers.
Vipers are pretty accurate to 500m and have long sustained fire (~11s) with enough DPS to brawl if need be. They are very accurate inside 300, but can be tough to track fast movers. 10s reload isn’t great, but when things get crazy, I tend to naturally get asynchronous loading w my Falcon, so don’t have the dreaded out-of-ammo situation too often.
I assume Hornets will behave like Wasps, faster unload and longer reload than Viper. Highly accurate to 600m, I do not expect them to be nearly as “brawl worthy” as their Viper cousins. However, they have much higher projectile velocity so hitting fast movers should be easier. Imo Wasps punch well above their weight and I have high expectations for Hornets.
Hawks are gonna hate these!
