Really? You can’t enjoy a bit of harmless humour without having to check with ‘the boss’. Seriously, this forum is just getting lamer and lamer and it’s got to be said, you Mods are to blame for that. I’m sure you’ll grab your little CoC and counter with the usual line that you’re all volunteers and you’re all sick of dealing with the same old crap; well if that’s the case maybe you need to resign and take a break. You’ve lost your perspective. Anyway, I’m off to play with all the other grownups that have already left the forum; you kids have fun. So, there's a thing called "discussion" that is generally a good precursor to things like ranting. Its useful to help people from going off half-cocked. I won't try to keep you here, but I will explain what my thought process was behind my comment and pinging "the boss."
Prior to my becoming a Mod, there had been a series of threads in the off-topic thread where some somewhat risque pictures of women had been posted. Nothing all that over-the-top, but they were rather titillating. Things like you'd typically see in magazines like FHM and Stuff. I don't remember exactly when it was, but I took one of my breaks from the game and stopped checking the Forum for a time. When I returned, there had been some sort of crackdown on it for reasons I never really was able to figure out. I don't recall seeing a post about it and there certainly isn't one now.
So, that brings me to this thread. I'm still aware that the previous stuff had been cracked down upon. We have a general PG-esque rating here. I'm also aware of what a "slippery slope" is and having a pulse and an ability to forecast a potential issue, I saw there could be one here. Because I don't know the backstory to why the other crackdown occurred, I pinged "the boss" to weigh in because he and GuitarGuy are the two "old hands" in the Mod group and I'm unaware whether GG was a Mod when all that went down. So, again, "the boss" got the call.
As Paul Harvey used to say, "And now you know.......the rest of the story."

Not a rant, but for you perhaps a little unwelcome; this is an observation and opinion from someone who used to enjoy this forum a whole lot than he does now. I’ve also owned, administered, and moderated a few forums in my time, so I do have some insight into what you guys experience day-to-day. So I’ll add a couple of things for you to consider (for the Forum membership’s benefit as much as your own) before I go: Rather than seek to shift responsibility for your actions (you are a full-blown moderator after all) perhaps you should be asking yourself who, if anybody, is harmed or exploited by the joke or the image. Anyone? Is an animated character’s bum really to be considered X rated? Is the poor behaviour of others long ago relevant? I can’t see the connection myself. Use your CoC as a guide and consider the post on its merits. Rather than post what you did in a public thread, perhaps a PM to the boss might have been better (I could do the same, but you’ve already set the standard here), that way you guys can consider your position before making a judgement, rather than making a judgment (asking the question in public is a form of judgement) and then seeking to justify it. These ‘public trials’ you guys have been engaging in recently just make you look amateurish and reactionary. Not qualities associated with good moderation. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, consider the fact that a lot of long time contributors have left. Not just the grubby ones that needed to go, but the humorous ones, the clever ones, ones who posted up great analysis of the game and it’s features. The forums characters have gone and with them a lot of the appeal. Ordinary ones like me are going too. Perhaps you guys need to be a little more moderate yourselves - you don’t even trust your ‘trusted contributors’. You guys really have thrown the baby out with the bath water. Oh, and I should add that this isn’t intended as a personal attack on you, Poopface, but your post does exemplify what’s going wrong with the tone the mods as a group have set over the past year or so. Please don’t feel you have to reply (but go right ahead if you want to); I’ll leave this here a while for you to consider before one of us deletes my posts and account in a little while - or gets the boss to do it. |

Just saw this. I personally think its funny and dont see any " ill intent" with it. But alas, I am not one to get" triggered" that easy. I will defer to Super Hero on this one.
