This was missing from an already Stellar list: And another: I know this a little after the fact... but while I did forget Moon, I most certainly did NOT forget Heavy Metal in my list... just to be CLEAR about this...
(Can you tell I really like that movie? Nostalgia for the most part... as a youngin that movie was both taboo and fascinating... yes the T and A was the taboo part... but the varied animation artists and the weird af stories was like nothing I had seen... I'd say the first one sparked the hunger for "different" types of entertainment for me.)

Yeah, you did list Heavy Metal, but you listed "Rouge One"(is that some sort of movie about cheek make-up?) so I lost my train of thought. JK Rouge-Rogue; they look close. The soundtrack of Heavy Metal is still the best anime soundtrack, ever.

Necropost! Edge of Tomorrow: Edge of Tomorrow was a good movie, but it could have been so much better. You gotta read the original novel because from story point of view, it is so much better and doesn't have the "hollywood" ending.

Necropost! Edge of Tomorrow: Many Tom Cruise movies didn’t get the attention they deserve. The movie was labelled flop and didn’t even get a proper release in Asian region but I liked it so much on my first view. Better than many releases.

Necropost! Edge of Tomorrow: Many Tom Cruise movies didn’t get the attention they deserve. The movie was labelled flop and didn’t even get a proper release in Asian region but I liked it so much on my first view. Better than many releases. I think a lot of people probably felt that it was another "white washed" attempt to bring original Asian material to the big screen - Ghost in the Shell being an example. As much as I love Scarlett Johanssen, I could not get through that disaster of a movie. Edge of Tomorrow was based on All You Need is Kill, a Japanese novel (available in well translated English). It's even got a graphic novel with great art. Both the book and the graphic novel focus a lot on the main character's mental state as he restarts the day over and over again. Tom Cruise did a pretty good job in acting that aspect out, but overall, the movie lost that gritty hopelessness that the book had. Still a great movie in my opinion, but just could have been better than just another summer blockbuster action movie clone. I especially loved the relationship development between the protagonist and Emily Blunt's character aka Full Metal err lady. I forget the character's name in the book. The book also went into detail about how the day kept repeating, and spoiler alert, both the protagonist and the lady were both "antennaes" for the time travel ability, and the day could not progress until there was only one antennae left - it gave the story a Highlander vibe but also made it tragic in that the two of them had to fight to the death.

Speaking of gritty hopelessness in a movie that could have been more, I felt similarly when comparing the Starship Troopers movie vs the book. The movie does do an interesting job covering the governmental service aspect, but I felt it was far prettier than it should have been. Of course, that's just a sign of the times for 90s movies.

Starship Troopers as an action movie was pretty good. A young Denise Richardson was a definite plus! But, I think overall, it missed it's target with what the book was trying to convey. Instead of taking a serious look at military service and moral obligations, the movie turned that concept into a sarcastic statement of us vs them. The commercials in the movie felt like they were done by the same folks who did the commercials in the original Robocop. But, unlike Robocop, they missed the point and became sarcasm for the sake of sarcasm. The movie was also pivotal, IMO, in bringing successful gorefests to the big screen. I remember that after this movie, gorefests became more and more common in movies. I also hated the fact that they didn't have the armored suits in the movie. In fact, they didn't have any armored suits until the 3rd movie (I think). Hell, they didn't even have tanks or heavy weapons. Who in their fight mind sends soft under-armed infantry against giant monster bugs?? Anyway, I just wish someone would dig out John Steakley's Armor one day and make a movie out of that. But, with my luck, if they do, they will again turn it into another Hollywood clone rather than the deeply psychological book it really is.

I've always thought Hammer's Slammers would make a phenomenal series, whether done live-action or animated.

Forgot: Starship Troopers I found Starship Troopers such a disappointment. The visual effects and the acting were both acceptable, but the script and the director were just awful. That and they should have released it under a different name, because Starship Troopers it was not...
