So between battery life going down the toilet fast and just being thrown around the room a bit too much over the years (yes, thank you Pigsonic), my iPad Mini 4 is getting a little long in the tooth. I don't need a lot of memory or horsepower, just enough to play this stupid game. This iPad has a A10 chip, and most games (except for the really stupid one I don't play any more) run perfectly well on it; the newest iPad and iPad MINI have the A12, so I expect things will only run better. iPad Air and iPad Pro are out of the question, because I'm just not throwing that kind of money at what's basically a gaming/browsing/time-wasting device.
My conundrum is this: I really like the size of the Mini (newest one is the same dimensions as mine), but it's $70 more than the regular iPad because it comes with 64 gb, vs 32 gb (after all the years I've had mine, I'm still only using 17.5 gb, including a crapload of apps I don't even use). I don't keep any media on it, so I don't need more than 32 gb. I'm trying to decide if I want to step up (down) to the regular iPad, but I don't know how it's going to affect game play with the bigger screen after being so used to the Mini for forever. 99% of its use will be playing MA and web browsing (including wasting a LOT of time in this forum). One thing I guess I also have to consider is my eyesight isn't sucking any less as the years go by, so there's that to throw into the mix as well.
So .... iPad Mini with 64 gb & 7.9" screen and $70 more, or iPad with 32 gb & 10.2" screen? Decisions, decisions ...

If you don't use a lot of apps the 32gb is probably good. I would go bigger. Mini is kind of a tweener, could also look at iphone max pro and combine devices if you like that size.

iPad Air is supposed to be very nice like an iPad Pro lite but does cost more than the regular iPad. I would choose the iPad Air but ergonomics are very important. With phones, I go with the smaller models that can fit comfortably in my pocket but tablets are nice when bigger for my aging eyes.

I agree that the larger screen would be better for you. I bought a 10" Samsung Tablet and use it every day. Much easier to play MA on it than on my iphone.

What a saga. I ordered an iPad, basic 32 gb, WiFi only from Apple, along with a Smart Cover. iPad wasn’t going to come until 12/23-ish. Wasn’t happy not learning that until after I placed the order. Anyway, the cover arrived today. Used to be a thin plastic case with a folding cover. Not any more. For the low, low price of $49, you get .... a trifold flap. The damn thing didn’t even make it to room temperature before I was printing a return label. Then just for giggles, and still scratching my head trying to figure out why I didnkt do this first, I checked Best Buy, and they’ve got these things in stock. The cover still hadn’t reached room temperature before I logged into Apple.com snd canceled the iPad order. The cover was just about coming up to a toasty 68° when I got home from Best Buy with a new iPad and $19 case-cover. Thieving sons of b****es can keep their overpriced and late-shipping crap. But anyway ... after just a little while, this iPad still feels huge, like I’m holding a wide screen tv in my lap, yet the old Mini already feels tiny. I mean, my 60” flat screen across the room looks small now. Took several trips into the customized controls though to get it feeling almost right. So now MA plays really nice. Still pondering whether to see if I can load and restart War Robots from scratch or just forget that steaming pile of horse「dookie」.

With that being said enjoy your new toy and forget about War Robots all together. Your new iPad won’t fix Pigs lag or over priced business model.

Ok, it’s been almost a couple of days now, and I still miss gaming on my iPad Mini. The regular iPad just feels too big and clunky for comfortable gaming. Maybe I’ll get used to it in time, but even though the old Mini feels tiny now, it’s still a better feel for playing these games. Whatever, right now I’m wishing I had just gotten the newer Mini.

Don’t worry about buyers remorse. Your iPad is still great at a lot of other things than playing MA. Being an older gentleman myself I like the bigger screen. Old eyes you know 😊

Best buy should have a pretty good return policy if you want to bring it back. Looks like they have a cyber deal going on right now for the mini for $300 if you want to exchange www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-ipad-mini-latest-model-with-wi-fi-64gb-space-gray/5495359.p?skuId=5495359

Next day it was up to $349, which is still pretty good and unusual for anything Apple, but not worth the trouble of returning the new regular iPad. I’ll keep an eye out for that deal returning, but then you run the risk of settling for whatever they have in stock. When I picked mine up last week, they didn’t have much.

Well, I finally decided that I do not like the ‘regular’ iPad for gaming, or most of everything else I use it for. It’s just too big and bulky. Could be I’m so used to the 8” screen size, since that’s all I’ve used going all the way back to my pre-Apple days and the BlackBerry Playbook. The bigger screen size is definitely easier to read, but not easier to handle, and you obviously do a lot more handling if you do a lot of gaming, which is probably about 75% of what I use it for. So I ordered me a new iPad Mini 5, and the wife gets a new(ish) iPad for Christmas. The new case already arrived, and just holding it feels like coming home. Christmas comes for me on Tuesday!
