punishingcossack that song and dance only works when there isn't a pair of mechs coming down from the left lane that will immediately bulldoze the beacon after your retreat. Once the home hill is lost, the friendly AI are incompetent at taking it back, instead funneling down the right lane or wandering into the open.

I started War Robots just after the Great Bullet Nerf, just before the introduction of the Rhino, Carnage and Stalker. The next few years were probably the most fun gaming I've had. I was lucky to be in two clans during this time with many members who moved between the two: Wiki and BBC. Really great people. Started to seriously go downhill with the introduction of Pilots, Modules and Titans. Too complex, too expensive. Played my last game this year. Love MA. Hopefully it will evolve. Hopefully the clan thing will get there. The games are intense, tactical and, most importantly, skill matters. ATM, skill can trump spending. Plus, this forum gives a great community feel; almost like having a clan. 👊

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. If the score isn't lopsided by then, I'll make a push w/ a tank to get home hill back, but if it is...I just go for kills and damage and chalk it up to stupid AI's

First, welcome to the Forum and cheers for chiming in to the MA subforum!
...
I don't know that I agree with that change, right off the bat... I mean, I almost feel like introducing them a little further down the XP path and not allowing them to be bought before you unlock them with XP makes more sense... my Javs are R5 now, and there are still some Lancers that can't be 1S1K with them. High level Jugs? Hell no. I agree that for lower level players there is a rather steep learning/upgrade curve in order to deal with them, but once the 4s and 5s are the norm they become much more of an attrition weapon.
...
EDIT... If I were to accede to a change out of the two you proposed, it would be slowing them down a little... but I am just not too horribly opposed to that option, not at all saying I am "for" it. Seems the better of the two choices.
Thanks, I've been reading posts here for a while but I finally figured out my account details and logged back in. I played War Robots for years and quit because I had started playing MA after hearing about it through the forum. Shoutout to Redfiend for all the amazing posts. I totally agree with you that introducing Javelins and Mortars slightly later on the progress track (probably after PC8 imo) would greatly improve the new player experience. And yeah, just slowing the flight speed of the Jav missiles slightly is the more likely and arguably better tweak. I did like the psychological warfare element of the hydra though

Couple of more comparison thoughts
Acquiring bots and weapons is even across the board, just need to earn the XP and resources, although there is a pay to acquire resources aspect. Limited to maximum of two of everything, so can't stack your hangar with one strong set up
