Shadow with SG4 is for me, probably the most fun, but in Division 1, it's really only useful in the first couple of days of Tournament, and only on CQC maps. For CPC games, Shadow with Jav6 is incredible. And, if you want a jack of all trades, then RPG6. You gotta rank it up to R5 to use Jav6 and RPG6 though. Don't bother with MR6. It works, but not much different.

So, quick update. Today's Tournament is Acropolis again, and since it's Heat 4, the competition is tougher. I decided to try MR6 on the Shadow again, and this time, I focused on ambush and hit and run tactic, and I gotta say, I think I've finally figured out how to use this weapon.
I did try SG4 today just as a baseline, and yes, it is definitely tougher today that it was on day 1 of the Tournament. I actually did much better with MR6 than SG4 today. The key, is to do straight attacks rather than strafing, and to try to ambush from the side or behind. With a bit of practice, I was able to hit while strafing, but each missed shot is a lot of potential damage gone. When shooting at a mass of grouped reds, unlike the SG4, I couldn't hit them all at once. But, I do more damage on a target at 30+ m than I do with the shotguns.
So, for others like me who have regretted getting the MR6, fear not, once you get your Shadow to R5, it can carry both of them, and on small tight maps like Acropolis, you can have a ton of fun. You probably won't get as many kills with it as say a Zephyr with CB8 or MR8, but you'll have a lot more fun.

Shadow is serious fun when equipped with the Javs. I’m committed to upgrading it to 5 so I can equip the Jav6s to it.

I don't regret it one bit and it's the first mech of mine to make that transition. Shadow with Jav6 on most CPC maps is simply awesome. It's the ultimate sucker punch build.

I love both MR versions but the 6 gets so much heat I never mention it. I run them on my Ares occasionally and even against late heat opponents, it holds its own for sure. Or if I want two equally powerful MR platforms, 1) 6 and 1) 8 on two different bots is pretty good, too. I tend to fire 1 at a time in most cases so the difference in firing mechanics isn't as bad as you think. I love it when I see about 2 or 3 Reds 100m away, focused on another Blue or that think the range is far enough for safety, and manage to kill one or both of them with MRs since they had no idea it was coming. I know folk say they aren't good at range, but if you pick the right target... they are righteously deadly from afar, too.

So... finally got my Carb 10 unlocked and spent my last bit of ACoins, well, most of them, on getting it. Since my Shadow is R4, still, I threw it on the Shadow for a bit to see if that would work... it's kind of fun! Besides when AI Guardians with LAs hit you in stealth, it's deadly and quick. I made a little game out of stripping Juggy shields for my teammates to take advantage of. Def not the best strategy with AI blues, but with real teammates I bet it works well. But yeah, I like this build.

Ty sir It's not a tank killer build... but it should chew its way through most bots, especially if you use your stealth to get a few extra damage hits on their flanks/rear before they notice and turn towards you.

My Shadow with sg4 just rocked in cpc. Was fun wasting all those reds. Had some help from an M.D.. Rank 2 level 6 sg4s.

Haven't been able to play much over the last week, but wanted y'all Shadow Fiends to know I R5ed mine and am running this config... and am having great fun in CPC when I use it:
I'm not kicking all the 「bum-bum」 yet... but it's a sneaky little beacon stealing killer and pretty fun.

Wow! I would have never thought to use the Carbine on the Shadow! Kudos!
Shadow does pretty good with RPG6 and MR6, and of course, my fave, Jav6. You haven't really experienced sneaky until you've killed mechs from behind cover and there's no red eye on you!
They really should give the Shadow a buff...or all mechs in fact...for when you kill a mech and there's no red eye on you. Like maybe a critical hit chance buff or something.

I have used the Jav4 + 6 on the Shadow in the past, and will prolly switch it out to both 6's at some point... but this build seemed like a fun experiment and I decided I'd give it a go. While not the best build... it is working well enough for me to keep using it and figuring out where it works and where it doesn't.
I played it with the Carb 10 when the Shadow was still R4 and it was arguably better even than the 8 and the SG4 combo... BUT... I finally copied my 10 and both are on my Guardian. I am close to unlocking the CB12 and will prolly drop it on Shadow and let it reside there for a while.
RE: the buff idea... Call it "Out of the Dark" or something... That's actually a really cool idea... a reward for skillful play, just like hitting from angles that aren't the front gets you a boost in damage.

Revisiting this thread because I had to use Shadow for a task yesterday and managed this on the first game:
The map was the ship, and it was pretty danged fun. Easy to Stealth up, cause havok, then retreat to the hidey holes long enough to rearm and then take potshots till my Stealth cooled down.
Shadow was my only bot used and it was still at half health by the end. I leveled the MR 6 to R5 about a month ago but never used them, so I decided to give them a shake on this build and it was definitely better than I remember them being when I used them before.
Gaidal was a real player... they Mad-faced me a few times, lol.

Yes! Another Shadow convert! It's the funnest mech in the game for me. You really gotta try it with JR6 since you've got it ranked to R5.
SG4 also works really well on the Shadow. But...since it's got similar damage to MR6, and the MR6 has better range, I tend to gravitate to the MR6 whenever I feel like face to face combat with the Shadow.

Shoooooot, I've worn those builds out!
Hell... If I run Javs, it's either on Shadow, Ares, or MD, with Shadow being the first choice in most circumstances. SGs, well... they ONLY work on the Shadow in my hangar, but they work well enough on that little Ninja that I R5-ed them a while ago.
What's also good is MR 8 + SG 4. Gives you best of both "from Stealth" builds.
I just hadn't tried the MR 6s yet, well, more than the couple of runs I did way back before I R5ed them. I expected little but was pleasantly surprised. They DO NOT kill most things straight out. But being in Stealth gives you the opportunities to coordinate with AI or Humans in a way that can maximize your use of them. Waiting for the right moment. Also, if it's a better situation to strip a shield than to wait for someone else to do it, this little bugger will handle all but the maxed builds for sure, and maybe that too... but I haven't done the math or had the chance to try it, yet on R6 Jugs/Ares.
Either way, this mech is definitely one of the top FUN builds for me. MD is right there with it but for completely different reasons.
Now, Cheetah or Lancer will be soon since I finally got my 2nd copy of CB 12 last night
